Remember, the Ranger isn't really a "small" truck anymore. I think a lot of people think the Ranger will pick up where it left off but it's the size the F150 used to be, and I think the former Ranger buyers are buying Mavericks now, unless they really need towing or off-road capability. I think the Maverick is today's "Ranger."

@Scott Asheville good to see you posting here. Hope you and yours are okay given the decimation caused by Helene in WNC, Eastern TN, etc.

It's not the so much needing a behemoth-sized truck more families do it's just people are tired of paying upwards of 70,000 for a full-size truck. Which is just plain retarded.

I know I'm sick of it every time I purchased a new vehicle 7 to 10 years apart the price increase was around $7,000 for the same model and all they added was minor amenities. Nothing really to the functionality of the vehicle.
Love my Maverick. It does everything an average truck guy wants.

The Maverick is a lot of things to different people, and we all have our reasons for being interested and or buying one. For me it's more so the size/capability than the price, but obviously that is a factor as well.

A reasonably sized, reasonably priced, and reasonably capable truck. There is a large, and honestly increasingly growing segment of buyers who want exactly this.

Yeah, we expect the Maverick to beat the Santa Cruz, but what I found interesting is that it's beating every midsize pickup truck not made by Toyota, unless you combine Colorado and Canyon sales. They don't mention it at all in the article but I think it shows an important trend.

Maverick has big shoes to fill. As Ford entry level vehicle it replaces Fiesta, EcoSport, Focus.
Great to see Ford increasing production volume of Maverick.
Now, if only my F stock would follow the trajectory of Maverick sales.

Interesting report and it does show the increased interest in compact trucks. Too bad they used the difficult-to-accept front end on the 2025 model.
I thought that when it first came out but it grew on me and I really like the new more aggressive front end now!

It seems like it's going to at least partially replace the Escape too (though the Bronco Sport will still be around for those who want a built-in cap I guess).

There's a lot of reasons Ford Maverick is appealing buyers over midsize trucks. Not necessarily in this order mileage, price, ride, bed size, easy to load, ingres and egress the cab, the amount of room in the cab and comfortable seating. Just wondering if any have tried riding or sitting in the rear seat of some of these other manufacturers? I think after friends, relatives see and maybe enjoy the ride and functionality these numbers may even go higher. That is if Ford can build them and keep from raising the price threshold out of reason.
My reason for not buying a Ranger is I like the Maverick better, mainly because of the size and mpg. My garage will not hold a Ranger. It will hold a Maverick. I just don't know if when new homes are built, the garage is the size of mine, (400) sq ft. or bigger to hold up to a F-150. Home sales ads don't list how big a garage is.

Our new Ranger 4x4 just fits in our garage. The tip of the standard radio antenna is about 2" below the opener. If I only had 1 vehicle, it would absolutely be our Maverick. The 2024 Ranger front looks a lot like the 2024 Maverick. I think the 2023 Ranger is as ugly as a Toyota truck.

The difference here is the ranger will not fit my garage. Sad builders cannot add a few feet onto a garage to fit a decent size vehicle. In today's world, no vehicle needs to sit outside at night. That is the real sad part.

A lot of houses were built before the major vehicle growth spurt of the 21st century. Anything built in the 20th century would have accounted for cars from the previous era, which were significantly smaller all around.

My house was built in the 1960s and won't even fit the Maverick. Our Niro barely fits in the garage.

You can call me a flip flopper as I vocally panned the front end as ugly as ass but it’s growing me on.

It was still poorly done but I CAN see where it is graduating closer to the explorer design at least with the headlights.

I guess for me it’s the lariat headlight that saves it from being total ass.
there probably aren't a lot of people who objectively prefer the MY25 front end compared to MY22-24.

however, look at it compared to other trucks, specifically the Ranger and the Santa Cruz. SC is less weird, but still looks like a damn UFO. Ranger is very conservative, and kind of boring. The Ranger Raptor grille is kind of neat, but the other trims are not exciting.

so, relative to what other trucks you could conceivably buy instead - the MY25 Maverick isn't bad looking. there's never been anything that competes with the hybrid Maverick and that gap is wider now that it has awd and 4k towing available.

I consider myself lucky, being in a patio home and a two car garage for older people. We have an average age of 75+ on our road, which are fairly new homes. But the garages, ones that are two car and still smaller than usual. We have had only one vehicle so I built two mud rooms on the side that doesn't sit the Mav, which I don't have yet. But plenty of room for it to get in and out. Rattling on here, I 'm done.

Would I like a little more truck? In the sense of ground clearance, AT tires, and maybe some additional max tow rating? Sure, who wouldn't but the sacrifice in efficiency is more than half to make the jump from AWD Hybrid 4K Maverick and a midsize or full-size truck with those capabilities.

With my $40k Maverick I can certainly get into a mid-size truck for a comparable price but I've had a Bronco and a Maverick Tremor and I'm not interested in running 93 for a turbo 4 or 6 and getting 20mpg or less.
