IIRC, the RUHIUA (Rodent Under Hood Infestation Union of America) had tried to sue Ford for damages, as the failure to install engine covers in the popular Maverick series vehicles denied their members a convenient and protected habitat for homebuilding, free from prying human eyes.

Apparently, the lawsuit was thrown out because the plaintiffs were unable to communicate an intelligible argument.

Ford celebrated their victory by vowing never to install Maverick engine covers.
The rest is history.

I have a cool story, bro.

We took in our '20 Escape Hybrid for an oil change about a year ago and the dealer found an oil pan gasket leak. It was covered by warranty so they did the repair, we picked it up and life went on.

A week or two later we went on a road trip vacation, and when I stopped for gas as we were leaving town I wanted to check the oil, just to be sure since they tore it apart. When I popped the hood I noticed this engine cover was missing! They must've forgot to reinstall it.

Immediately called the dealer and they were able to find it still sitting on a shelf in the shop. After the trip I sent my wife back and they put it on for her in about 10-20 min.

They were apologetic but I do wonder how this would have unfolded if I hadn't noticed for a few more weeks or months, if the cover was nowhere to be found. I bet they would have been much more skeptical about whether I was telling the truth and I would have probably had an uphill battle on my hands.

Can anyone who has the hybrid engine cover speak to the composition of the cover? Is it solid plastic or does it have a sound insulation layer of foam or rubber?

If and when you find a engine cover don't forget about the associated mounting Hardware.
I also own a hybrid. There are no belts to inspect or adjust.

It certainly gives a clean appearance to the engine compartment.

Escape engine cover should fit the 2.5 hybrid.
