I don't believe this to be correct. He has good intentions but.. I have ran K&N, Motorcraft, and Wix air,cabin and oil filters mostly through the years with no problems at all. Not one of my engines were ever harmed by these filters!! Doing my 30K- ish service before winter here soon.

His methodology is decent, even if not laboratory standards.

Your claim:
"Not one of my engines were ever harmed by these filters."

Your proof:
None

Your problem(s):

• You didn't do any oil analyses.
• You didn't do any oil filter analyses.
• You didn't do any engine tear-downs.

You never put your vehicle on a dyno, so you don't know how your filter is affecting your engine's performance either.

At the end of the day, even if we take your claim at face value, you still can't account for whether or not your choice in filter(s) was the best choice.

Other fun things you don't account for:

• Does that oil filter have an oil-bypass?
• If so, is that bypass the same spec as OEM?
• Do you think the manufacturer won't consider this if you have a warranty claim for your engine and the problem has any relation to engine lubrication?

There really isn't any reason to be so defensive about your choices unless you feel like this video was calling you stupid...

I can STAND watching Project Farm videos because of the fast talking. He may make good points and have good information but I find the videos intolerable so I will never know.

Glad the Wix was at least mid pack; when RockAuto had the oil filters, air filters, cabin filters, and windshield wipers I wanted all in the same warhouse, and some on sale, I took that as a divine sign to stock up more than usual. Somewhat curious that there is a huge gap between the Purolater and Wix though; they are both made by M+H, so figured they would similar, if not the exact same part.

Anecdotal Talk is easy and cheap. No proof, just a story. (We use to call it "Hanger Flying")
No one here is going to invest the time and money to do a more comprehensive test. They'll just gas on with their stories. Which is their own particular experience. Nothing more.

Dust particle count is the measure of filtration. Air volume loss is a strange metric.

I have K&N washable filter for engine and cabin. I have always ran K&N and never had any issues, but have never kept a vehicle long enough either.

A trick I use is, I wash the filters, let them dry, then I use plain ol furniture polish instead of the K&N oil for the filter. I use the endust brand from Walmart.

Since doing this, I have not had any dust at all in the intake tube. I have never had any issues at all with intake sensors either.

I bought washable foam filters for home AC and use furnish polish on the filter as well. I have had no dust or issues at all. AC tech commented how clean the ducts are.

Just sharing what works for me.

The entire point of an engine air filter is to filter out the dust and silica particulate that wear your engine's cylinder walls. Some would argue it's even more important to have a high quality air filter vs oil filter.

Reading his results, that K&N didn't filter out anything and will lead to long term damage as silica wears away at your cylinder walls before getting trapped by the oil filter (if it does).

If you're running a race car and want max hp and have tuned for it, use a K&N (or nothing) but for us mere mortals it looks like that Purolator, Bosch, and Wix are the go to's. Bosch looks to be the best value of them.

I’ll stick to Motorcraft filters and Full synthetic oil.
I did run a taco 2.7 liter 4 banger without engine problems to 528,000 trouble free miles all in severe duty.
Central Florida,
Pulling a small 5x8 enclosed trailer, weighed 2,300 pounds for over 250,000 miles.
At 528,000 I was losing power.
I wore the engine out.

Always ran K&N washables

I actually wore an K&N out.
At 300,000 miles I was losing power big time.
100 miles from home,
The filter was properly cleaned and oiled 10,000 miles prior.

I pulled in to a Autozone, bought the cheapest filter they had.
Popped it in,
All my power came back instantly.

Took the K&N home, cleaned it. It was no longer useable I could see it disintegrating.
Tiny flakes and fibers falling out.
I never used one again.

I like Project Farm but his content at the end of the day is just entertainment and drawing hard fast conclusions can leave you misinformed sometimes. It would be the same if "Wile E. Coyote" ran a test lab as none of his testing conforms to ASTM standards, especially his motor oil tests. He satisfies peoples OCD dopamine rush of racking, stacking, ranking and making lists.

Generally his tests either reinforces some peoples confirmation bias or it obliterates ones bias and generates the ensuing emotional trauma that plays out on forums like this.
