The hybrid I test rode had very little gas, not sure if it matters, but hardly got to use the electric mode. And when I punched it on the hwy it seemed louder and straining vs the eco. Maybe it was just that one or it didn’t warm up etc.

Do the hybrids motor kick on and off a lot? I felt it was constantly in and out of electric/gas mode.
If it's cold the hybrid engine will kick in to maintain a temperature threshold and also to maintain the heater usage if you are using it.

As for the engine noise, the Hybrid uses an eCVT so you will hear a little higher RPM's when using moderate throttle and it will generally remain constant until you reach the speed you want to cruise at. It's really easy to get used to.

The EB is kind of a noisey engine, but it's personally never bothered me. It's typical FORD lifter noise.

What are your hwy speeds? Will I still get 40+ on the highway if I’m going 75-78?
any guess what the eco would be at same speeds?
Generally speaking, the EB does better on the highway than the Hybrid. If you are regularly going over 70 and not on perfectly flat roads in optimal conditions, the MPG's will be about the same as an EB with the Hybrid. Of course, you can baby the Hybrid a bit more and get that much more but the Hybrid is not meant to shine on Highways. The estimate of low 30's (trip) with anything above 60mph is a pretty high one and does not represent the average of what people see. That is still best case scenario. You will likely see mid 20's (again, trip) at your highway speeds and should be impressed if you hit 30's but overall, your MPG average will still be above 30 easily if you are 50/50 highway/city.

It seems you have a lot of time and a lot of random questions. Understandable, but consider using the search function and doing some research, and also remember K.I.S.S. - Keep it simple, stupid. Don't overthink it. Spend some time browsing the forums because all this stuff has been covered over and over and over again and is easily obtainable information. Lastly, I stick by what I said that unless you need AWD or 4K tow, just get the Hybrid and stop overthinking it.

As a hybrid owner, unless you want the best mpg between the two, just go for an ecoboost. I don't see any reason to get a hybrid unless you want better mpg, which is what I personally wanted. The ecoboost has more configurations and capabilities. That's really the long and short of it.

Once you decide you don't want hybrid mpg then it becomes a matter of do I want a turbo Maverick or something else altogether.
ID is typically an EcoBoost state. OP and I are in the NE Megalopolis. Traffic is bad. What's the next 10 years look like? It's a Hybrid zone, especially in the warmer seasons. Yes, Mpg is only 1-2 better on the open highway, but the highway is rarely open driving. The hybrid really shines in the city, hills and country roads of CT.

does the fx4 option make the ride more aggressive? Besides size/mpg, the main reason I like these are because their suv like feel. Vs my last Tacoma off road that wasn’t the smoothest. I have no plans of taking it off road but would consider adding for resale assuming it didn’t make it ride rough.
I do not know as I have never ridden in a non FX/4 Maverick. The FX/4 gets mono shocks which are superior to the twin tube type but prolly a bit stiffer but not much. My Maverick rides great very comparable in ride quality to my wife's Cherokee. I have ridden in Tacoma's and there is no comparison in ride quality between the it and the Maverick. The Maverick has a much superior ride.

The FX/4 package also gives you the larger productivity screen. It was well worth the 800 bucks extra in my world. Good luck.

Sounds like you're agreeing with me.

Do the math and figure out what you're really saving a year. That will help you decide.

For me at 10,000 miles a year and gas prices by nme hybrid would only save me about $450 a year.
- Three years to pay down the premium and break even
- The additional wait when I ordered in July
- The additional issues that plague some hybrid owners
- Inability to test drive a hybrid, only 1 dealer had one and wouldn't let you test drive it unless you were serious about paying a premium

All that pushed me Eco and I don't regret it 1 bit. Lovely vehicle. The mileage is as good or better than my old SUV.

I may evaluate swapping for a hybrid in a couple years once all issues have been sorted for good and availability is more common.

I have a '22 hybrid Lariat, and love it!! I love that there's no shift points in the transmission. Very smooth driving on both the city and highway! Previous to the Maverick, we had a Honda Insight hybrid, and traded that in after three years for a Toyota Prius which we had for 6 1/2 years. My wife has a '22 hybrid Escape, and she loves that too!

I have a 22 eco boost and a 24 hybrid and another 24 hybrid on order. I have had no problem with either ( hybrid starts just fine in the cold). I was thinking i would replace the 22 eco with a new 24 hybrid. The hybrids gas milage is great in the city but also great on back country roads and also gets better mpg on highways then the eco. The mpg aside, my 22 eco has 21,000 miles and i love it and don't know if i can stop using it as my every day driver.

I have a 24 ECO Lariat, FX4 with 4K tow. I love the truck.
While better gas mileage is nice it has never been a motivator for me. I purchased a mustang GT and never though about gas. >:^).
For me the HP of the ECO wins hands down. You can tell the difference in acceleration. Some folks don't care, which is perfectly fine. You do you Boo!

Love my Ecoboost AWD 4K tow. Haven't had a single issue, not even a squeak or rattle. Done everything I've thrown at it with no problems - and I haven't gone easy on it....

I got the eco with 4k because I wanted AWD and the ability to tow a smaller trailer. The only regret is the relatively poor mileage from the short-hop, stop and go style driving. The hybrid would have thrived in my normal driving style. At the end of the day economy was less important than capability but if they made a hybrid with AWD and 4k towing I'd have bought that.

Thank you for this.
How many times have you towed something that the hybrid couldn’t?

I have eco and hybrid on order and want to finalize build before production.

I drive around 20k miles per year (50 city/50 hwy) but also tow small boats/trailers a handful times a year (only a few miles) but still would but nice to have the 4k and power.

I’m trying to find the dealbreaker to help me lean on way or the other. Any input or insight would help.
Thanks!
I only but ford. I have a 23 hybrid maverick. I absolutely love it. I have a 22 Explorer st. I love it. I have a 23 f150. I love it. What I don't love are the recalls on all of them. It's too much. I have never thought about leaving ford but with recals and not getting what the dealer said they would do had me on the fence about selling all of them and going to a different brand. I have bought ford's since I was 16 years old. It's a shame

OP, really depends on your priorities.... both are great trucks, but will shine in different areas.

If it's lower entry cost & better in-town & overall fuel efficiency, then go hybrid.

If you prioritize more power, towing, and AWD traction, at the expense of fuel efficiency & cost, go EB AWD.

That's really the main difference between the two.

You can really not go wrong either way, I had a choice and went Hybrid, My first Hybrid and so far its exceeded my expectations. 8k miles since November of 23. A lot of trips on Interstate, It will get about 36-37 mpg running 75 mph. Get it into mixed driving and it jumps up into 40-50mpg range. I never realized how much i like the no shifting. I have a 2023 Bronco sport turbo and I loved it and still do but it seems we take the Mav Hybrid on all our trips now. Its simple, No belts to fail no alternator to break and no starter. The battery issues just a FYI will affect any ford model. I have them on our Bronco. If not driven they start shutting stuff down. I think it affects the Maverick hybrid more as it has a really tiny 12v battery. I have had zero issues with mine. Like I said I don't think you can go wrong either way.
