So I debated back and forth. I have body on frame trucks and the Mav was basically to have a car like vehicle with better fuel economy and more suited for dd stuff like groceries, kids etc

Side swing tailgate would make it more functional for me. As is kids can’t grab their stuff from bed without help. Plus the Bronco Sport storage area is more secure.

this thing feels like a car with a bed which I guess is what I signed up for.
Heavens, no. We wanted/needed a truck. Otherwise we would have just used our Outback.

One of the first things I did with my maverick was put a 4x8 in the back to cover this stupid attic hole (only needed half of it but still) that and I want to get a ramp to load my Xmax. So two things that took the bronco off the list. The "not be a hyundai" took the santaclaus off as well.

No because we have both!! I got the Maverick and then a year later my wife wanted a Bronco Sport to replace the mini van... It's tight on space but she loves it.

My father in law, who is a mechanic at a Ford dealership, says to avoid anything with the 1.5L like the plague. That means I'd have to start at the Badlands, which is considerably more than I want to spend.
I test drove a Buick Encore GX for shits and giggles, which has a 1.3L engine and 3 cylinders. No way I'm driving a Bronco with a 1.5L engine. Too buzzy and under-powered.

I drove a Bronco Sport for two years and enjoyed it. However, my Maverick is more functional for me with the bed, 2.0 AWD, and 4k towing. It's also much quicker and handles better.

Same here. Bought my wife a Bronco sport last month and I will be picking up my Maverick in a few weeks. She totally loves her BS.

I would love a Bronco Sport with the rear seats and hatchback portion deleted. In other words, a Bronco Sport trucklet. That thing is 174 inches long. Give me two seats and a 4 foot bed and I'm happy. Zero towing capacity, because I don't need it. I'll take the more expensive 4 cylinder engine though

I strongly suspect 2 out of three owners use the Maverick as a commuter into which (every now and then. ) they throw a bale of hay, or a big box from Lowes. And for those 66% of Maverick owners, the towing capacity and other truck features are completely wasted money.

Remember that the Bronco Sport has an available 4 cylinder. But you really pay through the nose for it.

Sat in one at the car show and for some reason it felt cramped. I expected it to be almost identical to the mav but it was not. Rear seat space seemed worse, too. We had just looked at foresters and they have a ton of rear seat space.

They are on the cramped side. They are smaller overall than the Escape. It would be nice if they make the next version in-between the size of the Escape and Edge since both of those vehicles will be gone next year.

Nope . never interested in bronco . Mav meets my needs as a pickup . fits my 6 ft 240 lbs body with long legs comfortably . perfect height . easy to get into and out of . fits easily in my garage . that's my opinion .

Wow, I didn't know both the escape and edge were on the chopping block. I can understand the edge since it's virtually indistinguishable from an explorer. The escape used to be a pretty decent mid sized SUV. But IMO the last year they looked good was 2012.

The bronco sport needs to be a bit bigger. It just didn't feel practical.
