I think the purpose of keyless entry and keyless start is so that you can leave the fob in your pocket and not have to take it out and put it back in to avoid the horn honking.
lol.... you may be right. My thought process is the opposite.....I leave it in the truck (all the time...) so I know I won't lose it. 🤠

Has anyone figured this out. In cold climates we all start our vehicles and get out to scrape ice and snow. I wish i didn't have to bother the neighbours with a double horn honk every time I do this.
Nope. The only solutions that I've been able to utilize are to either leave the fob in the cab of the truck, or leave one of the doors just slightly ajar. Neither are really a great option, in my opinion.

Remote start, wait 3 minutes and then go out and proceed to scrapin'?

I don't have remote start...I refuse to connect to mother Ford but that is another discussion. $1000 CDN for the dealer to add it to a key fob...won't be doing that. For 45 years my single small car key has been either in my pocket or in the ignition. Wrangling the large key fob is still a learning process for me and I really don't find it a benefit after more than a year of ownership.

Leaving the fob in the vehicle seems to be the only option to stop the horn for me.

I knew you'd come around! What is it about this that makes you hesitant?

As I said earlier, I always thought this was why Ford gives you a fob & and the door entry pad. No worries of losing it, don't have it taking up space in your pocket, always there when you need to go. Win-Win! (and no annoying HONK!)

First time I discovered it was when I was at a horse barn. I'm just happy it didn't spook the horse. Really hate that "feature"
First time I REALLY noticed mine, my wife and I were traveling out West in our Navigator and pulled up behind a dozen motorcycle gang members at gas Pumps and I was going to leave the vehicle running for her while washing the windshield while waiting for the next available pump.

I've got a few Mavericks we use as fleet vehicles for our security company. They have the actual keyed ignition and this double-honk happens sometimes when the driver door is opened. It is inconsistent, sometimes happening when the key is in the ignition and sometime when it is not. Not a good thing to have happen when the officers are trying to be quiet when getting out to do a security check of a location in the middle of the night. I've tried to recreate it to see what exactly causes it but have been unsuccessful. Waiting for a ForScan work-around.

Gee, I am not in mine right now but I think that is why when I get out to unlock and open my gate I put mine in neutral and then set the electric brake = no honk!
Not sure but believe you have 30 minutes before the truck puts in park and shuts off or something else. Have not ever waited that long.

Just FYI.
You can add the perimeter plus alarm for $189, which gives you remote start via your factory key fob.

Not according to my dealer for my vehicle- Lariat trim level. But I often question what my dealer says. Maybe I will revisit your suggestion. Thanks

This happens sporadically on my XLT: a double horn-honk AFTER I've turned off the truck and removed the key from the ignition. I can understand the Lariat models doing this, but my XLT has a conventional key... ?
