If you leave the hood open I wonder how much power is used by the hood open sensor. If I installed it under the back seat I would not be able to observe the lights on it or take the voltage readings without unlocking the truck and opening the back door which will activate things that will reduce the battery voltage reading by 0.1+0.3 volts. I connect it to the jump posts with the hood up allowing me to get the reading. If the noco is still plugged in the door opening will cause a reduction in the battery reading which will start the noco charge routine. With the hood up the noco ground clip can be removed leaving the jump pins to reveal the 12v battery without active draw reducing the actual reading. You can then take jump pin multiple reading of the 12 volt over several days without disturbing the soc of the battery. If you have meter capable of accuracy in hundredths of a volt you can track battery soc over a week or more if you leave noco unattached. Also rumor has it that mice are less prone to chew wires if hood is up.
