For those looking for a Deep Sleep temporary fix, I came up with a trickle charger solution.

Because the battery is under the backseat and not under the hood, the solution is a little more cumbersome.

I bought a 1.5 amp charger/trickle charger from Menards. It has two leads to connect to the battery cable tightening nuts (after cutting a small notch out of them first). The cord on the charger I got is VERY short but that doesn't matter.

I connected the leads and did a quick check to make sure the charger was working. When I went to close the battery cover, I realized that I'd have to cut a couple notches in the case so it would close.

Now when I get home and if the truck will be sitting for a few days, I roll down the rear window about half way and run an extension cord in to plug in the charger.

It's a little inconvenient but it works great. I haven't gotten any Deep Sleep messages since it was installed.

My next steps will involve a multi meter and pulling fuses. The idea being that there is something (or things) in the truck's electrical system that's drawing down the battery when the truck is shut off and I'd like to tell Ford what it is.

A side note: I have heard that the Deep Sleep problem is not just Mavericks but other vehicles including other Ford models and Subarus.

A few time's last September. I had the interior lights FAIL come on when I opened the door.
At that point, I installed a charger.
I ran the cables directly to the battery terminals. It was the path of least resistance for me and the electricity.
I charged the battery overnight. The next day, I pulled fuse 11/12 and did the battery relearn. I turned off as much communications as I could. That means no Ford Pass for me.😪
I haven't had a problem since. The charger leads are still directly hooked up to the terminals.
. I close the door on the flat charger cord. Easy peasy. As you can see there's no damage to the weather stripping or cord.

I've only charged once overnight since I installed it.
Anecdotal at best but it has worked for me.

I put a reminder on my key fob.
I don't want to forget to disconnect the charger and drive off.
I'm old it happens. 🤷‍♂️

Do you leave the charger attached but unplugged ?
Yes I do.
I don't know about the OP.
since installing the charger I have only charged it overnight once. I turned off all the possible Communications with the truck and I pulled fuse 11/12.
It's been months and no low battery or problems. 🤞

Yes it's always connected. After the extension is disconnected I just close the seat over the charger.

Hook the negative lead on after the BMS device so the vehicles system sees the charge.

Oops, I didn't hook it up that way. 😲
I hooked the charger leads directly to the battery terminals as shown in the picture.
It looked like a nice natural connection point and the easiest one. I chose the path of least resistance.🤷‍♂️
That was back in October. I only charged it once. Pulled fuse 11 and did the relearn. I have not experienced a low battery situation since.
I haven't had a problem. What could happen and wouldn't it have happened by now??

It doesn't log charged while key off.
So it doesn't matter.
Charge Ignition On.
Discharge Ignition Off.
Discharge Sleep mode.
Discharge Running.

But, it does mean you should get the BMS relearn process done after a charge up - 8hrs locked no accessories. Manual states this should be done after full charge.
Might confuse the BMS during it's test to see no battery discharge and think you've got one great battery there.

I replaced the battery with a better one, after the dealer gaslight me and blamed it on me.

Will probably try getting reimbursed by Ford since the Battery was covered in a recall about 2 weeks later.

0 issues since replacing the battery.

There is no recall for hybrid 12v batteries (yet).

I have been plugging my Maverick in since day 1, when I bought it. A little over a year ago. I had read about the deep sleep thing and wanted to stay ahead of it. I never had an issue until I recently went on a trip to Mexico for 10 days. Got home, opened door. No interior lights, no lights on outside that normally wake up when you open the door. Checked Ford Pass app and saw this "Vehicle in Battery Saver Mode". "Please drive your vehicle to refresh status and remote features". Pretty sure tuck just shuts down to prevent a dead battery at some point. Have never had a message regarding Deep Sleep yet. As soon as I turned key my battery monitor (plugged into cigarette lighter) lit up 14.3 Volts. Everything was just fine and things work normal. I'm assuming there is a time frame that triggers a Battery Saving Mode. I don't think, (but I could be wrong) that this mode is NOT triggered by battery voltage, because of my voltage reading when I started the truck. I ran my wires to charge through front grill (saved about 3-4 inches extra so I can hide plug-in when I drive truck), then ran wires up along edge of radiator shroud to the batter jump posts under the hood. I think I saw a post where someone ran wires to the side emblem (XLT) and had a nice looking plug in thing there that you plugged in. I can't use that because I have turn signals and marker light installed there. Looked like a factory deal! Good luck.

My 2023 Lariat Hybrid was going into sleep mode often. I started putting a small charger on the points under the hood. That prevented further sleep mode but it was a hassle doing it 2-3 times a week. Last Black Friday I picked up an AGM battery from Amazon for $120.00 and installed it on Nov. 25, 2024. It was an easy install. I have had no further deep sleep issues. I too hope Ford will reimburse me some day.
