my son's 2004 Escape went through 2 cv joints in 2 years. Wife's 2005 Escape went 15yrs without failure. son readily admits driving the wheels off. both V6 powered but otherwise similar setup to the Mav.
My '06 Escape that I drove for >260,000 miles had a few that went bad. Funny thing is, I could buy entire replacement axleshafts (name brand) from Rock Auto for $50-$60 bucks each. That's less than half the diagnostic fee the dealership was charging the OP.

Interesting thread about this issue. It appears that if you install lifts or bigger tires and your CV joints go bad then at least some dealers will not cover it under the warranty.

Looking to get in contact with someone with ford that cares about helping me . I’ve reached out to multiple dealerships all saying there is no recall on the cv joint or axel and they don’t know of any issues and yet there are forums here dedicated to this exact problem. My truck is shaking when I press the gas and getting worse. I’ve heard nothing about resolving this. Let me know friends
I have 23 XLT Hybrid had mine replaced at 17k now at 28k need replacement again

I have my 23 xlt hybrid and started getting vibration at 35k. Took it to the dealer at over 36k and explained what the issue was and luckily he knew about it. The service manager was super cool and got it done the same day under warranty! I'm hoping it doesn't fail again.

Well, I just got my car back. Replaced both of my axles with the latest (3rd gen) versions after having it already replaced with the same original version back in 02/24. Whopping $1,334 after significant discounts by the dealership. They had it at the shop for over a week trying to get this replaced for free due to it having been replaced already. Ford will only cover warranty parts for 1 year, which I surpassed.

I am extremely frustrated and will honestly never purchase a Ford vehicle again. I put a lot of miles in - 120,000 in 2.5 years - and got completely screwed because of it. The icing on the cake for me was the lack of accountability by Ford. I have called over a dozen times in the recent week to their Customer Support number and spoken with many reps who all tell me that there is nothing that they can do. No escalation, nothing. A dead end on something that is a safety concern and can eventually kill someone.

Ford doesn't care about their customers so I will stay away from them in the future. What a shame... I absolutely love this truck and had vowed to purchase the current one when I am ready. I guess I didn't mind the many recalls as they were all covered but am now concerned about what the future holds.
