What are the typical symptoms of the axles being bad? I've been hearing a clunking in the front end on small bumps in the road although I don't think that's usually signs of bad axles.

Same. Everyone I know who's had a Honda has had problems. Our Honda lasted less than 2 days before the motor went, very few of the Honda owners I know make it to 100k miles without serious issues. But I still recommend Hondas because I know these are freak personal experiences and not representative with the brand as a whole. Thanks for the advice. But I'll ignoring your recommendation. I have nothing but excellent results from my Ford vehicles. ;-)
My second car was a 2003 Honda Civic. I drove it for 10 years with only needing oil and tire changes. Had a Camry after that, drove it with zero issues for 5 years. Then had a Rav4 which other than terrible gas mileage was good to me until I got the Maverick and sold it for only $2000 less than I paid for it 5 years earlier. I've had the Maverick for 20 months now and have had three recalls, had water leaking into the cabin (evaporator and carpet were replaced) and CV axles replaced in less than 33k miles. One of these vehicles is not like the others. First Ford I owned and although I want to eventually upgrade to a F150, not sure if I want to after this.Same. I've often lamented how seeing the issues on the maverick forums stresses me out, but I've had no issues apart from the truck being in battery saver mode for a few weeks, but that doesn't seem to hurt it. I know how I am. If I traded my maverick in today, I'd go on the forums for whatever new car replaced it, and get stressed over an entirely different set of issues, because my brain is an asshole like that. Kinda hard to describe, but it loves to run through worst case scenarios and convince me they're gonna happen to me.
I love my maverick. Almost like clockwork, it's seeing issues on forums and thinking "Maybe I should sell this thing" then I drive it, and it's like I fall in love all over again. Just nothing compares to the smoothness and refinement of the maverick hybrid, not at that price point anyways. If it has massive issues with the CVT or 2.5, I'll probably ditch it. But smaller things, I'll just live with.
My last vehicle was a 2014 Toyota Corolla. The car has been passed down and still driven daily. Currently 195,000 miles. It’s never had a part fail. This is also my first ford and compared to my Toyota it’s been a nightmare.Same. Everyone I know who's had a Honda has had problems. Only 3 recalls? I've lost count on my 2022 but think it's in the neighborhood of 10-12 recalls. Recently I had two that I procrastinated on, leaving the letters in my pile of unopened stuff until Ford called me about it. I said I'm sick of having to make arrangements while you take my vehicle all day or overnight. So they sent a mobile recall service to my house. It still took the guy about an hour in my driveway to perform the recall, which only involved software. I keep trying to get them to loan me a Mustang, but all they ever give me is a crummy Focus or Fiesta.I've had the Maverick for 20 months now and have had three recalls...
My cousin works with someone who bought a brand new Tacoma. Engine issues within the first month. People get unlucky in every brand sadly. My last vehicle was a 2014 Toyota Corolla. Sure, every brand has issues. However some have more than others. My cousin works with someone who bought a brand new Tacoma. Engine issues within the first month. People get unlucky in every brand sadly.
All brands have gone down in quality in the past 15 yrs. More electronics and cool features but skimpy quality in things like chassis, body, and CV joints.Sure, every brand has issues. However some have more than others.
And Ford has less issues than most. We've owned basically every mainstream brand.Sure, every brand has issues. However some have more than others.
It's just the angle, the new joints on the new on are a little stiffer so it doesn't flop over, they're the same length. Not sure if its the picture angle or not but the replacement axle looks to be way longer
LOL. Numerous sources rank most and least reliable brands and Ford is nowhere near the top. The most recent Consumer Reports article based on data, not opinions, ranks Ford as number 22 in reliability. Another study on least reliable models rank the Ford F-150 the number 3 least reliable model. And Ford has less issues than most. We've owned basically every mainstream brand.
I wouldn’t rush to do that. I’ve had a ton of Toyotas. All their new stuff is problematic. A buddy of mine is a Master Tech for Toyota. He said, he wouldn’t touch a new Tundra or Tacoma. Are you not aware of all the engine and transmission issues? I just sold my Gen3 Tacoma, and I can tell you, the Maverick is light years better to drive than my TRD Pro was. Also, I’ve had three Gen3 Taco’s, a LC200 Land Cruiser, two Gen5 4Runners, and a host of older stuff. So, I’m not bashing Toyota. I just don’t play the Toyota never has issues game; they have plenty, people just don’t want to admit to it.Still waiting for my “updated” cv axle to arrive. They confirmed it’s a new part but unfortunately they are only replacing the one that failed. It won’t be long before I have to do this all over again for the other side, and I’ll be over 60k by then. They are hoping to have it before December and in the meantime they guaranteed it’s safe to drive. I have my doubts it is. This is my first ford, not a great first impression. Might be going back to Toyota sooner rather than later.
I would not put any importance on CR reviews. They have been hawking Toyotas for 20 years and bashing anything else, and they certainly are not as good as they claim. Right now they have more recalls/vehicle than the Mav has, and CR have not said anything about that little problem. Take a look at which vehicles are still going down the road at 500k and the "CR-recommended" vehicles are just about all missing from that list.LOL. CR isn't the only review source. I read several. The highest I saw Ford ranked as a brand is #10. My 2022 Mav has had so many recalls I've lost count. I will say that all brands, even Toyota, have gone downhill in the past 15 yrs. More plastic, thinner bodies, more software and electronics that will be unavailable in 10 years. Pretty much everything made today including the Mav will be scrapped within 10 years. You won't see any "classic" Mavs on the road in 2034 or "antiques" in 2049. Cars have become a throwaway item like cameras and cell phones, while priced at what you could buy a house for not that long ago.I would not put any importance on CR reviews...
