Cracked windshield

It’s been so cold and snowy in the New England area I have been staying home and not going to work. Dealing with snow blowing and shoveling last thing I wanna do is work lol. So I haven’t been driving, just auto starting it to make sure it doesn’t get too cold.
The day I do get in and start it up to leave I notice a crack. There was nothing there when I parked because I always do the stare and walk away after locking the cars. Someone mentioned a recall and I was doubtful. Out of all the other recalls on the Mav I don’t think there’s one for the windshield.
I’ll wait for it to get worse before I change it out. Just had to vent my frustration.

The Mavericks heater is above average, and seems to heat up pretty quick. Sorry this happened to you, but I will absolutely be mindful of setting my climate control on vent.

Be prepared for the windshield replacement to be in the neighborhood of $750+. When I had mine done last year, it was over $800 at Safelite. The glass was about $500 and the camera calibration was about $300.

This price of progress/tech. My insurance used to have free glass replacement. No more, between the tech and the acoustic windshields.

My state farm was $100 glass deductible.
Switched it to $0 for about $12/year more.

I had to replace my windshield last summer (flying rock on the Interstate). Cost me my $1000 deductible with AAA.

Safelite replaced it in my driveway, but they used the normal (non-acoustic laminate) glass. When I pointed out a week later that they used the wrong glass, they came and re-replaced it at no additional charge.

Huge hassle, tho.

Since you had the non-acoustical windshield for a week before getting the proper one.

Quite possibly a small chip down low in the black zone. Unfortunately you can't see that real estate from the interior. Then the chip swiftly cracked with defrost at work. Happened to me within the first month

And if you had rattle or popping sound coming from dash, pass side, prob from plastic alignment guide. Word is from some replacing the OEM windshield that rattle popping goes away. Replacement windshield not have this guide feature.

FWIW, I had the windshield on my '24 Lariat Tremor replaced about 9 months ago, and since have got 2 pretty good chips in the replacement, with no further cracking. The replacement is from PGW (Pittsburgh Glass Works) with a DOT code of #563, which means it came from China. That being said, it's pretty tough.
