I will check both Walmart and Costco and go with the lowest price and stock up if I see sales.

I shop both places and the Costco prices are generally less and their oil is often on sale. I don't recall seeing Walmart oil ( Supertech full synthetic ) on sale. It's usually $18.95 for a 5 qt jug where I live. Just a couple of weeks ago I paid $30 for two 5 qt. jugs of Kirkland's full synthetic at Costco. A DIY oil change with a Supertech filter ($3.84) from Walmart can costs right at $20. You can watch youtube videos on Supertech oil filters where they cut them open and compare them to the expensive brands. You don't always get what you pay for but sometimes you get a bit more.

Wait for deals of oil. 5qt can go as low as $10. They have rebates from time to time. Or go to Costco . They sell it for abou $30

Can't speak for our local dealer as I just did it myself, think it was 28 for the oil and 5-10 for the filter. I agree that the skid plate is annoying as my 2013 Prius even has an oil access panel that only takes 2 screws to undo.

I change my own oil also have done it 3 time like you said a pain in the ⁉. With removing the shield 🤔If you want to save about 12 dollars go to Walmart and get your oil and filter Valvoline, Castrol, Mobil full Syn all about the same price and 8 to 10 dollars for a 15000 to 20000 mile filter . First time cost me a little more as I bought 10 quarts and take one quart out of it along with the 5 I buy to make 6 quarts 👍😊.
Next time I change my oil I'm going to cut a hole in the bottom pan. so I can change the oil and filter with out taking it off . Going to put hinges and a small latch to secure the piece back in . Hey Ford are you listening I'm sure you could do this also and look alot better then mine will look but you won't hell my pan is so butchered from the dealership and falling apart and you won't replace it . I love my Maverick But Fixed Or Repaired Daily with all these recall repairs are crazy Also Ford wears your second recall repair for the fire problem you said it would be out in October of 23 well if you're not looking at your calendar it's October of 23 late October of 23 just thought I'd let you know Ford ⁉

Yes I've thought of doing that myself and will probably look at it when I do my first oil change

When performing your own oil changes, buy your oil at Walmart and not Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc. Then order a Motorcraft filter on Amazon when they're in the $5.xx range, or a 2-Pack for around $11.00. - Total cost of the oil change is under $30. Any rebates or coupons will of course lower the price.

If you want it cheaper, use SuperTech oil (~$18/5 qts) and Filter (~$3.00).

I'll usually buy the 5 qt jugs of oil 3 at a time, and change mine and my wife's Crosstrek at the same time, leaving me with a few quarts left over for the next change.

Sigh, again I realize WHY the cover is there. No need to debate that or try to educate me with links. My solution would be to notch out the already existing, yet misplaced, hole for the drain plug and use a 4" hole saw for oil filter access. Some day I'll probably lose or strip out a couple of screws and get irritated enough to do just that, but I'm not there yet.

Funny how you all are fixated on the second part of my original post, yet no one has bothered to answer the first question. How much does paying for an oil change on the hybrid typically cost? I don't think I'm saving much money doing it myself, but my time is money also.
I changed the oil on my Maverick recently. It's the Hybrid model, and takes a little under 6 quarts. I went to Walmart (they have the best prices for oil, and the craziest customers, so it's a deal and a show) and got Mobil1 0-20 full synthetic for $28 for 5 quarts. I bought a 2nd one, for the 6th quart, but that will amortize over the next 4 oil changes.......so call it $35 for oil. I bought a filter for $8, so I'm at $43. That's a little over half what local shops charge around here. So I save about $35-$40 per oil change. I have ramps, so it's easy to get underneath to change it. I also do oil changes on my C-Max, and it has the full underbelly cover, so I guess I'm just used to pulling the cover off to do the oil change. I will say, the underside of the engire/transmission has stayed very clean, so I suppose the cover is doing the job. Also, I like doing my own oil changes as it gives me an opportunity to really inspect the undersides of the vehicle. To me, that's a huge side benefit of doing it yourself. I change the oil 2 - 3 times a year, depending on mileage, per vehicle, so it's $80 to $120 savings, per vehicle, per year.

Just did my first oil change at 3000 miles. Autozone charged me just under $50 for 6 quarts of Valvoline full synthetic 0W-20, including a free extended life oil filter and my military discount. What's the going rate at the dealer these days?

I will say that the plastic panel under the engine seems stupidly designed. There is an access hole for the drain plug, but it's not lined up right to allow the oil to drain straight down without making a mess. There is no access to the filter at all without removing the entire panel under the engine, about a dozen screws. Not a big deal, but more work than it should be and I see a high potential for losing or stripping these screws out in the future. Am I missing something here? Was this panel designed with only the ecoboost in mind or something?
The panel is for aerodynamics which Ford ruined when they did the “fix” for the underhood fire TSB/Recall by deleting the AGS blades and cutting holes. Get a 4” hole saw and cut a hole for filter access.

I haven't done my first oil change yet (only 400 miles) but here is what I am considering...

WOW! Thanks for finding this and reposting it. I have a Sovol SV06 3D printer and a few rolls of PETG since I print stuff for my FPV drones and stuff around the house. I really like the time and detail the guy put into this, such as the oil symbol, the lock/unlock text, etc.

I'm talking about the hybrid. I assume it helps with aerodynamics and improves fuel economy a little bit and maybe protects the engine and eCVT somewhat.

My issue is not that it's there, but why make the filter impossible to change without removing the whole damn thing?
When I get my truck. i think i will cut a hole under the oil filter, and use zip ties to hold it in place, and then cut the zips and replace when change oil again. i sure wish i didn't have to do this

how long does it take after arriving to get out the door for the oil change?
All over the map depending on how busy that they are. 1-3 hours. I usually do tire rotations at the same time.
