Can the new 2025 Hybrid AWD be flat towed?

My contact at the Lincoln Heights dealership in Ottawa (Canada)still hasn’t gotten an answer from Ford engineering US. So the wait continues!

I have the dealership chasing down an answer for me. They are great at following up so I should have an answer soon. Although Tim’s answer was from a Ford engineer! I pray that he’s wrong. Or maybe it’s just the 4K towing pkg that makes it untowable? I’m just guessing now.

There have been a number of reports from different “authorities “ on whether or not this truck can be flat towed. I’m not saying whether it can or can’t. And not questioning anyone else’s credentials. Just reporting on how I’m proceeding with due diligence.

From Ford Authority today:

That update is the fact that 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid models – both front- and all-wheel drive – can be flat-towed, which Ford Authority has confirmed with Ford truck communications manager Dawn McKenzie. Notably, this is the first time a Maverick all-wheel drive model will be able to be flat towed, as this wasn’t possible with any 2024 gas-powered version of the pickup.

This is sure to be welcome news for those that wish to take their 2025 Ford Maverick with them by towing it behind a recreational vehicle, and the feature can be accessed by turning on “Neutral Tow” in the settings menu.

I think the key here is probably the E-cvt vs the 8 speed automatic which is used in EB's.

Hope it true but I don't trust any type of "news" publication, etc as being fact. Let Ford release official documentation before firm conclusions are made, just my opinion. I'm just a better safe than sorry type of guy that's been burnt before.

Tim is fact checking with his source at ford. he was previously told by the engineers that it cannot be flat towed.

We did find out that Flat towing is capable with a AWD Hybrid. When we got our information from our contact, the engineers were not sure about flat towing so they answered No. that has since been updated and they tested it out and confirmed that you can indeed tow with AWD Hybrid.
