Yes , it can. The older manuals has not been updated but the new manuals and tow guide affirm that the 2025 Maverick Hybrid AWD can be flat towed. We were the model for the Demco base plate and picked up our outfitted Maverick 4.4.2025. We have towed from Boyden IA to McPherson KS with no issues. Can’t even tell it is back there.

How much would one expect to pay for the mod to the Maverick, tow bar, and hitch.

Your setup is very impressive.

Possibly because I'm not familiar with towing vehicles but I've never seen a braking system like that. I'm sure it's fine but that seems sketchy as hell! Is there any kind of feedback in that system? How do you know you have it set up properly so that the brake isn't depressed too much or too little?

This is the DEMCO Stay and Play. It is a popular tow braking system that has been in use for years. It was installed by a Demco authorized dealer who worked at Demco for 10+ years. The Demco RV product coordinator and the design engineer were there when we hooked up. Our Maverick was the model for the Demco 2025 Maverick Hybrid and spent a week in the Demco facility being outfitted. The braking system is adjustable through both a set screw on the control box and a pressure adjustment under the hood. It doesn’t have to be removed like the braking boxes set on the floor with the arm that depresses the brake.

The price for the base plate hasn’t been posted yet as it is in beginning production stage. The Demco Commander 2 tow bar is about $1013. The Stay and Play braking system is about $1590. There are a few additional parts for wiring, lights, etc for about $360. Then whatever your installer charges.

DEMCO bought the company SMI in 2016 I think it was, who were the original makers of the Stay and Play. I'm not exactly sure how long that unit has been around, but I had it on my Jeep in 2016 and never had an issue with it. I now have the Roadmaster system on my Maverick with the "Invisibrake" system. It stays in the vehicle also, no removing or putting it back in all the time. Some here on the site do not like the idea of some of the shutters getting removed when installing base plates with the Roadmaster. It has not affected the cooling/heating, nor have I had any issues with it. I have been in 110 degree weather and sub-zero. Actually, I need to look back at the maverick history from Ford. I think my 2023 XLT had some shutters that were removed before I bought it (new).

They did not cut but did remove one side that the base blocked.

I have bought a new RV which I am picking up next week. I also bought a 2025 Maverick AWD Hybrid to flat tow behind the RV. I was planning on using the Patriot 3 braking system. My understanding from some posts I have read on different

DDK did you run a charge line from the RV to the 12v battery in the Maverick? I have read a post or two on different forms which indicated that when a tow braking system depresses the maverick brake pedal, the regenerative braking system draws power from the the 12v battery. additionally they said if the 12v battery got too low, the maverick could drop out of of flat tow and damage the transmission as well as the regenerative brakes. I am not sure if this is true or not but was trying to cover all my basis. I am picking up an RV next week and I bought a 2025 maverick AWD hybrid to flat tow behind it. I am new to RVing and flat towing and would appreciate your thoughts.
