I haven't received my Maverick yet 🙂
But my son has a

in his 2022 Stinger, pretty happy with it.

Not necessarily, as the technology and market are always moving forward. Some of the older threads may not reflect the latest offerings in technology and value. Previous advice maybe of use, but there may now be more out there. So, let's hear from anyone with the most current info.

Title: Best dash cam recommendations?
Then there are two questions in the OP.

The first is easily answered with a search of the site.

"Best" is subjective and my only experience is the one i bought and installed.
I have installed a Wolfbox 900 in my Maverick.
It meets my needs - best i ever had!

Does it meet your needs OP? If so, i recommend it.

(note: some sarcasm mixed in with real answers ... I would not come to
MTC looking to figure out the "best" dash cam .. other sites/forums specific to that)

I just finished installing a dash cam in my new Maverick Lariat. At first I installed a Garmin Mini 2, but I moved it to my F150 when I realized that I would like a rear camera in addition to just a front camera. After reading many reviews I decided to purchase a Viofo A229 Pro. I almost purchased a Viofo A119 Mini 2 (which by the way is $98.99 today on Amazon). Of all the cams out there, the A119 Mini 2 is one of the best values for your money, so I would definitely recommend you taking a look at it. As far as the install goes, it was extremely easy. (see attached photos) The camera installed without a hitch, and the two wires (one for the fuse panel and one for the rear dash cam) were routed without incident. One thing to note is that there are many how-to videos on YouTube of people installing the wiring for the cams by crossing the camera wire over the A-pillar air bag, which is a big no-no. I made sure I ran it behind the air bag and secured it with cable ties, so it would not cause a problem, should the air bag need to deploy. I read all the stories about deep sleep in the Maverick and wanted to stay away from using the OBD port. In fact, "parking mode" isn't something that was important to me, so I wired the power directly to fuse #3 using a 5-amp fuse and tap. I tied the BATT and ACC wires together on fuse #3 so that when I shut off the engine, current is completely cut off, and there is no chance of battery drain. By the way, I have the Lariat with the sliding power rear window, so the mount in the photo is temporary until Monday. I ordered a 90° adapter for the USB C wire, so I will be able to move the camera closer to the rear window center, and the cable will be unnoticeable. Love the cameras and ease of setup. Good luck with your purchase and install.

The search function here is terrible. Just help the guy out, he is asking a question I would also like an answer to.
Had 2 people try to jump out in front of me recently, sure would help to have a camera in that situation. .Apparently, that is a new deal in this area.

I purchased the Thinkware Dash Cam from Ford and it has the front & rear window cam and hooks directly into the OBD connection. The reason I purchased this dash cam is because it was on sale and if the dealership should say my problem is due to the dash cam I have installed which they did all ready. I told them the dash cam was a Ford authorized part for my Maverick and that pretty much shut down that theory.

I've used the video from my dashcam twice to turn in commercial vehicles running stop signs. One was a school vehicle. :(

I downloaded the video, clipped it so it was fairly short and small enough to be sendable via e-mail, and sent it to the school district with an explanation of the situation.

They can't deny it when you have video proof. Apparently the school van driver was driving an irregular route and didn't know the particular area, but still. It could have been much worse.

I am a firm believer these cameras are worth the cost if they work correctly. (y)

So many good ones, depends on your budget and what features you want. I installed the Cobra SC 250R front & rear dash cams and hardwired them to allow for the park feature to work. Front records in 4k while the rear is 1080p.

If needed you can also purchase a in cab camera for a 3 camera setup, that installs on the front facing camera. Simple to use with the Cobra app, video and audio is crystal clear.

Very nice equipment and a nice looking installation. Would you mind sharing some details about how it's installed?

Off the top of my head I don't remember exactly the two fuses I hardwired power into for my hard wiring kit, I do recall running one of them I believe the accessory wire to the wireless charging pad fuse as it's not used in the XLT but it does work. I'll double check for you as soon as I get time which fuse I tapped for constant power. I ran the ground next to the passenger footwell also. From there the wiring tucks in nicely up beside The glove box and a zip tied throughout to prevent rattles. Then runs up the passenger side a pillar zip tied to the airbag wiring harness into the headliner to the front facing dash cam, then the rear dash camera wire runs off the front camera up the headliner along the passenger side of the headliner back to the center of the rear glass.

Took me roughly a half hour to install it, I have parking mode enabled which will automatically record if somebody bumps our hits the vehicle and I also have the motion sensor enabled on the front and rear camera, so if either sends motion it automatically comes on and records.

Sorry I asked. Seems like a bunch smart asses here for some reason. I'll figure it out
Yeah, seems like that's been going around lately. Some folks think they're funnier than they are.

To answer both of you I got a Viofo A119 Mini 2 and I really like it, it's tiny enough to be completely invisible behind the mirror but produces excellent video.
I've since talked a few friends into the same model and no one has had anything bad to say.
