I have the 2025 XL, 2.0L EcoBoost 4 cyl. Is the AWD always active or does it kick in automatically when needed?

I saw when he switched to 'slippery' it gave him the choice of snow, sand, and mud. I do not see this option on my 25' xl 2.0. Has that also been removed?

I thought I watched all the maverick related videos while awaiting my delivery. I haven’t watched that one. Very insightful. I do enjoy being able to watch the transfer of power on my dashboard though.

In slippery mode my 2024 AWD puts equal power to each wheel at all times below 40 mph. At least that’s what the individual wheel power meter shows me.
All other modes, rear wheel power is delivered as needed.
If I spin a wheel all power goes to the other three wheels equally, per my wheel power meter screen.

If a Subaru spins a wheel all power goes to only one wheel until traction comes back.
Yeah, stupid I know.

Yep gone is this wheel power screen in the 2025

A few things wrong here:

The standard Maverick AWD system does not have the ability to lock into AWD and deliver a consistent 50/50 split so while your power split screen may show that it is not happening 100% of the time under 40mph.

If you spin a wheel - the wheel that is spinning applies braking force to that wheel effectively transferring power to the other 3 wheels but the AWD system is not intelligently doing this it’s just sensing wheel slip and applying braking to the wheel with less traction - there’s no work to reroute power occurring with PTU or RDU when a wheel is slipping.

Not sure where you got that about Subaru but Subaru DOES have all time symmetrical AWD drive that sends between 45-50% (depending on model and system) to the rear wheels at all times. Subaru has open diffs as well and uses braking to provide traction to a spinning wheel and forcing power to the other 3 wheels.

My Subaru comment is from watching one repeatedly try to make a climb on a dry loose steep section.
It was easy with my Mav.

Nope, Lariat, no Tremor gear underneath. My RDU is I assume limited slip. Does not disturb my gravel roads in the two switchbacks that are full turn the wheel all the way tight.

RDU is open diff. Tremor has the RDU with twin clutch packs.

Here is a great video demonstrating your RDU:
