My truck was in the shop for repairs for over a month after someone slammed into my driver's door. I picked it up today. After I pulled out, I noticed that the tank was very nearly empty. I also quickly noticed that the CHK light to the right of the fuel gauge was on solid. When I got home, I called the body shop, and they told me they ran a scan yesterday after the work was completed, and there were no codes. I have a call in to my Ford dealer, and I also have a Forscan-compatible OBD scanner on the way, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to pick some brains here, as well. I know that some vehicles with emission tech will show a code if the cap is not screwed on correctly after refueling. Is it possible that the light is somehow related to my extremely low fuel situation (I ran on fumes for a few miles before finding a station)? If so how long should it take to reset?
