I'm on my second (identical) Maverick - I have a 2024 Hybrid Lariat and my automatic temp control doesn't seem to match the temp I've set. Yesterday was a beautiful day in Michigan. I had the temp control cranked up to 84 in order to have 70ish temp from the vents. Anyone else experienced this? My 2022 worked as expected. Thanks in advance.

Dunno if this is the issue here but on some cars the temp control will send cooler air than requested when the sunlight sensor on the dash detects you're in full sun

Not the best system. I had a jeep Cherokee with Auto HVAC that was spot on with settings and fan speeds as needed. Ford should take a lesson.

I believe eco mode has an effect on the ac operation.

I've noticed when the outside temp is ~72-80F I have to turn the "temperature" all the way up to 80 sometimes to have the AC on, but not blowing ice cold air out. Sometimes when I am going down the interstate at over 75 MPH, the volume of air coming out of the vents at fan speed 1 is more like 3 too.

Not really a big deal since the HVAC is easy to control with the buttons. I have actually wondered if the temperature knob is just an estimate that only controls the blend door position, and isn't really automated temperature control.

Your system is working normally.

Bear in mind the temp setting you control with the knob is the ambient cabin air temp you're telling the system to maintain, not the temp of the air coming directly out of the vents. Think of it like the thermostat for your house.

100% A/C with no heat blended from the heater core is going to be around 40-45°F. When the sun load sensor on top of the dash senses a lot of sun, it tells the system to go full-cold (or not blend any heat in) to maintain the set ambient cabin air temp. It needs to do this to be able to keep up, or the cabin air temp will get warmer than the temp set on the controls.

I haven't experienced this. Temps in Ohio are in the lower 70s upper 80s and my Mav feels perfect set at either 71 or 72 degrees.

I realize the temp of the air from the vents may be higher or lower than the requested temp, but having the system set at 72 and the cabin gets to 80 and keeps going is the problem.

It's a cheap, mediocre system as far as temperature calibration and fan speed. The temp indicator on the info screen (or maybe dial, in your case) is a wild approximation. Not much else I can say about it - but it is "functioning normally" for Ford.

I have to set mine to 66F in winter if I don't want it 86 in the cabin, and 74F in the summer if I don't want it 64 in the cabin. Let go of the concept of absolute temperature readings and try just putting the dial where it works for the season.

If I wanted to check the accuracy of the climate control system in the Maverick. Where would the best place be to mount a physical thermometer to check and verify the the auto function of the climate control system.
