Shucks, the gizmo is obviously set to Celsius! The translation is "bake at 350F, turn after 2 hours". Agree that something is off and you may need the Stealership Service Department. Sigh....

I will just add this 2 cents......its probably my only real complaint about the truck. Mine is the commons mans model XL but getting the truck warm on a cold day and getting it to stay comfortable is tricky for some reason. Its either too hot or not hot enough.......i will survive

I mean I totally agree. It’s not a big deal. I’m just more curious if anyone else has had this issue and what the remedy was if any.

So I guess it’s working correctly. But I find it odd. Let’s use my temperature gage as the controlled.

When we left the temp outside was 55. Had the heat set to 71 degrees both sides. Set to auto 1. Gave read between 82-84. Depending. Kind got hot but I dealt with it to see if it would sweat me out again.

When we left to come home outside temp was 55. Set heat to 68 both sides. Gage read 87 and I had to turn it down to 65. Then it came down to 82 and I put it have to 68 and it settled around 82. I know that gage isn’t accurate but the only way I could really tell what’s going on because believe me the heat coming out is HOT.

Where is the temp gage for the thermostat in the car? Is it on the dashboard?
Sorry to hear it's still giving you issues but it sounds like a trip to the dealer might be in your future.

Here is what I was able to find as far as temperature sensor location is concerned. I think #2 is what you are asking about. #3 might also play are role in regulating cabin temperature.

Ohh that makes sense as to where the sensor is. Thanks!

Absolutely! I don't know how far down the rabbit hole you want to go with this but I did a little more digging did turn this up as well.
Looks like there might be additional temp sensors located in the footwells and registers.

I'd check with dealer for service...My auto temp control works as well as any vehicle I have ever owned. I do have to adjust the 3 cabin vents when temperature changes significantly. I find the vents work extremely well at distributing the cool and warm temperatures.

Ok so this is really strange. I think when I remote start my car with my phone it gets really hot like I mention. Today I took the car out for a drive, colder than yesterday, remote started my car with my key fob. Car temp on my gage was reading closer to 72 degrees the entire drive once the cabin got to temp. So old. Going to keep seeing if that has anything to do with it

Hi all,

I have done a search to see if anyone else was having this issue but didn’t find much matching it. Here’s what I noticed:

When I have climate control “auto” on and set the temperature to say 71 degree's (during cold weather), the heat never seems to stop. I had a thermostat thing plugged into my cigarette outlet to see what it would read and it would 84 degrees apparently. Even if I turn the thermostat down to say 64 it doesn’t seem to stop the heat or reduce the heat from coming out the same. Basically it’s gotten to the point where I need to just turn it off and back on. Anyone else have a similar experience? I have a 23 lariat hybrid.

Thanks!
I am experiencing a similar issue. I like to set my Automatic Climate Control to 73*F. Sometimes I feel like the cabin gets way too warm. I have to lower the set temperature to 70*F or lower. When I do that, the temperature of the air flowing from the registers does decrease, so the system does work. I just don't feel like it maintains the temperature I have called for. If the dealer was able to resolve your issue, please let me know. I haven't taken mine in yet.

The "thermostat thing" plugged into the 12v power point will probably never read right because of HVAC air leakage in/around that area.

I don't use the Auto setting at all or obsess over what the truck temp shows it is in the cab, vs how I feel. I just select where I want the air to be directed. If it's hot or cold in the cab, I turn the temp dial a few clicks warmer or colder and adjust the fan speed. If it's too warm in the cab, I turn the temp a click or two cooler and/or turn down the fan.

IMO, the Auto setting ends up unexpectedly deciding something should change when I don't want it to. It's bad enough you cannot fully control when the A/C compressor and Recirc are on or off.

I really miss the fully manual controls in my old Subaru. So much simpler and user-controllable.

Oh good. I’m not the only one then experiencing this issue. My work around is to just not use the auto feature unfortunately. I just use the fan speeds and turn the temp down. Literally turning the heat down to 65 on fan 1 split between face and feet setting when driving for a while to not get too hot. If I use the auto feature it’s more like 80 degrees after a while and still pumping. In the summer months I have the AC set at 76 and it’s still freezing. I got nothing. Not going to bother with the dealer as you and I both know they will say, nothing wrong with it. It works. So I’m not going to waste my time. If you get it figured out though let me know

measuring the temp at the register is even more useless in a Maverick than it is in your home.

I describe how to use the automatic climate control here: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/center-dash-vents-annoying.35592/page-3#post-645503

It is pretty normal to have to adjust it based on clothing, outside temp, sunlight intensity, and recent physical activity. It is not normal to literally be unable to hit a desired set point if you have it in automatic mode and the vents are aimed properly.

If your system can't be set to a comfortable temp following the advice in my old post linked above, there could be a problem with one or more of the many sensors in the truck. It took me years to break my wife of the habit of manually setting fan speed and temp when she first started driving vehicles with automatic climate control, and she still dinks with the vent aiming more than I'd prefer, but at least we have an understanding that automatic mode stays on and just adjust the set point if needed. :D

Sounds like your AC system is broken. I'd take it into the dealer- not at all normal. I like the Auto because it will blast hot or cold air if needed then settle at the temp desired.

I think the poorly insulated/lack of insulation in the Maverick plays a role as it is working to keep the temperature above the set limit and not just TO the set limit. If you turn it off, the cab quickly gets cold, or cool in 40 degree weather.

Yeah, I think my wife's Odyssey has a better more refined auto-climate system as far as going from high to reducing temp and fan speed to a "comfortable" level but even if I set it at 70 it gets too hot in her van for me too.

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with the auto-climate control, my major issue is with these cold temps my EB rarely gets to operating temp and if you turn the heat on it drops the temp again so I end up keeping it off and using heated seats and wheel.

No you can't.
Example: I sometimes find myself on a dirt road and suddenly behind another vehicle stirring up dust. I would like to turn the system on RECIRC. and turn off the blower. If you do that in this vehicle, the system will decide the fan and compressor should start running.

That is not full manual mode - it is software making decisions I'd rather make myself.
