This dainty lil beaut says, "Hi there!" Last thing i need is another thing sticking out behind my wheel. Less is more - i just need that area clean and free for oppo-lock action
Kidding aside - I can see how some dont like it. I love the thing.

Think of the dial knob as something that makes the Maverick just like the $75,000 Shelby GT500 shown above.

Don't care for it. Love the truck though.

We have Ford Fusions at my office, and the first time I got in the newest one, which has the dial shift, I was dumbfounded. It took me a literal minute to comprehend that was how you select your gear. I can't say I like it, but I've learned not to hate it - unobtrusive and simple, at least it doesn't look like a mouse.
I like the fact that if the driver's door is opened without first putting it in park the shifter automatically goes into park. The muscle memory of using the shifter will take some time though.

Now here's a guy with all the essentials: a pen, tape measure, extra charging cord, some business cards held with a black clip (doubles as a small vice in a pinch), and extra cough drop, and some chewing gum. Working man, with dirt everywhere ;)
You got it.

I've had three on the tree with OD four on the floor, push button and everything in between, the only one I did not like but loved to drive was the 66 Mustang with a ratchet shift. I would have to think where reverse was. Everytime.

Of all the new things that I had to get used to in this truck, and there were a lot as my trucks for the last 25 years were bare-boned standard shift Rangers, the dial shifter has been easy to like. It was odd at first but it does its job fine.
I never liked the column shifter in my old Ranger. Always felt sloppy. I’ll be glad to be rid of it. With the eCVT, there are “gears”, but nothing for the driver to be concerned about. Smooth power baby! That’s what the Mav hybrid is all about (and most any other recent hybrid).

And I think if you are backing up and open the door it stops the vehicle and puts it in Park? I'll have to try that tomorrow

i would like to ask all, does anyone like the diel shift. i personally do not like it. so I am on a mission to see if there is a way to put a hand held shift like an f150. does anyone agree. thank you
It’s okay. My complaint is it doesn’t stop spinning when you get to Drive, so I have to actually look down to see where it is at.
I preferred the dial location and function on my Ram, but I can live with the Maverick’s.
It is soooo much better than having separate push buttons for each option like my mom’s GMC Terrain.

What do you mean it does not stop spinning? I do not have mine yet so this concerns me. That is a feature of why I chose the Mav!
