I used the ford.com inventory search to find nearby dealers with incoming inventory and called each to see if any were unclaimed. I scored an Eco XLT with FX4 and 4k tow, and they honored my X-plan price with no markup, with a signed purchase agreement. I found the vehicle in mid Dec and it arrived a couple weeks ago. I think my timing was lucky, both in finding an unclaimed one and doing so before people really started hunting them down.

I have an ordered Eco XL with 4k tow scheduled for production 2/7 that I won't be taking. That dealer wouldn't sign a purchase agreement for X-plan, which is why I went looking elsewhere.

There are 5 Mav's sitting on various dealer lots from XL right up to a fully optioned Lariat with FX4 package within 6 miles from me. I have already put a deposit down a week ago on the exact build I wanted but if I sacrifice colour and add a couple of things I don't need I can grab one from a local dealer tomorrow.

All this talk on here about 5 month plus wait times is a bit off putting
MIke, grab it! I ordered a hybrid XLT back in August. My Maverick was scheduled to be built in the beginning of January. My Focus died in December, so I figured I can make it a month or so using other cars. Then it got pushed back to mid-January production. Then late January production. A week and a half ago, it was pushed to mid-March and now is scheduled for late March production. I need a car NOW, so I did what you did and looked at what was out there according to ford.ca. Every one I looked into was either sold or spoken for. "They're being sold before they arrive" was one answer from a GTA dealership. I finally found one in southwestern Ontario that was on a train coming from the plant. I got lucky; it had been sold but the buyer couldn't get financing, so I bought it over the phone. It should be arriving in about a week, the 260km (one way) trip will be worth it. When the one I ordered eventually arrives I'll either trade this one in or just pass on the one I ordered; I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

Yea. They had one on the lot when I ordered but didn’t think to buy it as it didn’t have options I wanted and I had no idea the wait was plus 5 months.

pribably wait it out. I have the means and I know I will regret not getting exactly what I want eventually

Looks like I'm going to have to change my screen name because yesterday (1/30) I just purchased a loaded Area 51 XLT Lux off the lot (FX4, 4K Tow, Co-Pilot360, floor liners, moon roof, rear window, alloy wheels). Two days ago, I declined when the salesman called to offer me the truck with a $2,500 ADM. Curiously, he called back yesterday to offer it at MSRP, so I went in for a test drive.

I decided to purchase but when we got to the table, they tried to hit me with $1,633 in preinstalled dealer options (profit-making up-charges: front window tint, cheap door edge guards, nitrogen-filled tires and a paint protection plan). I had already put the salesman on notice that I didn't want any surprises and was about to walk. They quickly came off of that and we agreed that I would pay their "cost" for these add-ons which was $222.

A couple of observations... I noticed that the prices that I paid for several of the options were considerably cheaper than their respective prices when you 'build' a Maverick on the Ford website. My sticker indicated that these were the MSRP prices for each individual option. The dealer stated that they don't have nearly as much of a profit margin with the Mavericks as they do with the Rangers and F Series trucks. If so, it might explain why the salesmen (in the three dealerships I visited) were unfamiliar with many of the differences in trim levels etc. and why none of them bothered to call me when Ford announced that they were about to stop taking orders. The salesman stated that the sale of this truck had fallen through twice- first via an abandoned order and then by a second customer who had placed a refundable deposit. He also said that because we're at the end of the month, the bosses just wanted to get the vehicle off their lot so they could add the sale to their end-of-the month sales report.

I ordered a Lariat Lux FX4 in mid December, haven't gotten a production date yet. I know 7 weeks isn't a lot of time compared to a lot of people here, but decided to call around and found a XLT Lux/FX4/4K loaded to the gills coming in. Signed the paperwork yesterday, should be here in the next day or two.
An XLT Lux and a Lariat Lux are quite different. You don't think you'll miss the Lariat Lux exclusives?

I got my FWD XLT by talking to dealers about incoming Mavericks
One of them called me and I took it

spoke to many dealerships before that one happened

They all list at MSRP on the Ford website when you search local inventory. You have to visit the dealer website or call dealer to see how much they REALLY want.

Dealers are not allowed to charge over MSRP in Ontario

All-in Price Advertising is the law in Ontario. You should never be charged more than the dealer's advertised price.

ask for your deposit back, the dealer should have no problem selling your abandoned order
My dealership told me they'd have absolutely no problem selling my maverick if I backed out of my purchase. Only a $100 deposit for me.

I might, but the chances of me finding a Lariat Lux FX4 4K on a lot are pretty slim. And just found out my Lariat build is being pushed back to friggin' December. So, I can trade this one in next year on it if I want.

I had been searching Ford's dealer inventory online for the entire midwest. Only a couple dealers had one on their lot. One dealer said they are keeping the one they have for a demo. Last week I was driving through a small town in Illinois saw one on the lot. I went back the next day and bought it. Lariat-First Edition. 2 days after my purchase it showed up on the online dealer inventory...

It has more than I would have ordered but am happy that I found it.

That's pretty much how I was able to get mine. Pure chance ... being in the right place at the right time.. I know many people are still waiting for their orders and it is very frustrating. We're not used to waiting for products when living in the greatest economic power in the world.

They are all MSRP CND
Buy one off the lot that comes the closest to what you ordered . I would look at what options can be added on later and which option are factory only ( like 360) . good luck .
