Specifically for the hybrids, an interior sound is played when the vehicle is moving below about 25mph. Anybody have luck disabling it?

It's not an interior sound, it's the speaker mounted behind the driver's side front bumper so vision-challenged pedestrians and others can hear you approach. Disabling it is not a good idea...if you hit a pedestrian or cyclist and it's discovered that you disabled it, you could be held liable.Specifically for the hybrids, an interior sound is played when the vehicle is moving below about 25mph. Disabling it would be quite the liability if you'd happen to hit a pedestrian...Specifically for the hybrids, an interior sound is played when the vehicle is moving below about 25mph. Anybody have luck disabling it?
My 2015 Chevy Volt was completely silent, and somehow, I still managed to avoid hitting any pedestrians during the three years I owned it. My 2013 Volt is just as quiet. The added noise is just another layer of pointless regulation meant to control us. Joking aside, if you're going to hit someone, it will happen whether there's sound or not.Disabling it would be quite the liability if you'd happen to hit a pedestrian...
Yep but a hell of a lot less liability if it's not disabled. My 2015 Chevy Volt was completely silent, and somehow, I still managed to avoid hitting any pedestrians during the three years I owned it. Which is why they include the following disclaimer:Yep but a hell of a lot less liability if it's not disabled.

I get the impression you’ve never walked/biked alongside traffic or walked across an intersection.Joking aside, if you're going to hit someone, it will happen whether there's sound or not.
I'd prefer to change it to Ride of the Valkyries.Alternately, can I change mine to sound like the Jetsons spaceship when taking off? Lol
So agree! I’ve owned 4 hybrids back to 2006 and a Focus BEV…none of which ran over anyone and none having the external speaker…Distracted or poor drivers are the issue that no level of speaker generated noise will overcome running someone over. Noise generation system mandate is not needed and is just another cost driver. My 2015 Chevy Volt was completely silent, and somehow, I still managed to avoid hitting any pedestrians during the three years I owned it.
