Any way to disable the "spaceship" noise present at <25mph?

Specifically for the hybrids, an interior sound is played when the vehicle is moving below about 25mph. Anybody have luck disabling it?

Nope, federally mandated. I bet it probably COULD be disabled using the Forscan thing.

I like the sound personally, but I would HIGHLY discourage anyone from trying to disable it. Not only would the process of digging around in your maverick to disable it potentially mess something up, that sound is mandated by the federal government. All EVs and hybrids are required to play some sort of exterior noise, especially at lower speeds. Intentionally disable this could really screw someone over if they got in an accident.

It's not an interior sound, it's the speaker mounted behind the driver's side front bumper so vision-challenged pedestrians and others can hear you approach. Disabling it is not a good idea...if you hit a pedestrian or cyclist and it's discovered that you disabled it, you could be held liable.
I've seen videos where the front clip is removed for foglights mounting and the unit is on a bracket behind it.

Disabling it would be quite the liability if you'd happen to hit a pedestrian...

My 2015 Chevy Volt was completely silent, and somehow, I still managed to avoid hitting any pedestrians during the three years I owned it. My 2013 Volt is just as quiet. The added noise is just another layer of pointless regulation meant to control us. Joking aside, if you're going to hit someone, it will happen whether there's sound or not.

Yep but a hell of a lot less liability if it's not disabled.

I get the impression you’ve never walked/biked alongside traffic or walked across an intersection.

So agree! I’ve owned 4 hybrids back to 2006 and a Focus BEV…none of which ran over anyone and none having the external speaker…Distracted or poor drivers are the issue that no level of speaker generated noise will overcome running someone over. Noise generation system mandate is not needed and is just another cost driver.
