Just an update if anyone's wondering: Yesterday the etrailer product page for these said they would ship in September. Customer service confirmed to me that meant September of THIS year! o_O They have now updated the page to not express any estimated date. Seems like a good move on their part...
Wow, my post reborn going on two years later!
Since this incident, last summer I had damage from quarter-sized hail to the tune of over $8,000 - more than the deer collision! The hail also totaled my travel trailer.
Aim was my problem. I always suspected it may have been out of adjustment, but I did not make the minimal effort to fix it until about two years after purchase. I should have done it much earlier, not just for my sake but the sake of oncoming drivers.
That said, the high-beam throw distance...
I've backed up at slight to moderate angles with a sway bar on and not damaged it (visibly, anyway). But that's mainly because I had just started using it and was not in the habit of removing it. The best practice is to always remove it.
I think the biggest risk is backing at sharp angles, and...
Proper loading of the trailer is important, but a sway bar does give you more room for error and optimizes the journey even when properly loaded (especially in strong winds).
A sway bar like this is a very simple device. Many, if not most, of them, including "name brands," are somewhere in the neighborhood of $50.
I have a very similar Reese, and it works great for my 2300 lb. travel trailer. I do not use a WDH with it.
I would add for the OP, however, that I don't...
I think it's important to understand and acknowledge that TFL always tests vehicles at, or sometimes slightly beyond, their tow limits in this torture test. That's the whole point. It wouldn't be a great idea to push any of them to the limit on a regular basis.
I hope someone creates a thread...
Controlling (informally) for other factors, when ambient temp drops below the freezing point or so, I start to lose a couple mpg at highway speeds (that is, 60-70). (Eco)
Sunray 149, 2,300 pounds dry; the Mav handles the job fine other than sharply reduced MPG due to the large frontal area.
Regardless of what you're towing, you should always "know it's back there" ;)
Just want to reiterate what someone said above - if you flip up the wipers, be sure to put them back in the resting position before starting the vehicle! I don't flip them up, because I know there is a time I would make this mistake.
It's surely a dumb and irritating design for those of us in...
From time to time I notice the ambient lighting isn't on, so I go into the Ford settings on the console and find that it's turned all the way down. I never turned it down. Any idea why this would be happening? I have no idea what the frequency is. I guess if it takes me awhile to notice the...
I bought take-off rims with moderately worn contis and prefer them over the Scorpions on FX4 rims. That could be in part due to the better mpg of the new combination. But I’ve used them a fair amount on gravel roads with no issues yet. I can understand the concern for heavy users, though.
