Not even Long McArthur is immune to scummy car salesman practices:
why would anyone think they can CUT the line for a sold out non ordered vehicle for MSRP?! I been waiting since 6/14 to pay MSRP and someone is going to come in 7 weeks ago and get the same price. Lol ya right

You should’ve been taken that back to the dealer for repair. Don’t wait until it catches fire.

You've clearly never lived in the North. Many cars I've owned would die at the first stop sign or intersection on days it's -10 degrees out.
I just went to Bemidji last weekend and the temp was -22F the whole drive up before windchill!

Also anybody not from the north windchill is the speed of the wind multiplied by the actual temp. (Idk the actual equation) but I was frickin -22F natively!!! Haha meaning if your doing 70mph stick your hand out the window and it will freeze off.

I listened to his story and it started off wrong. He original reserved the Maverick “well over a year ago”…but since cancelled that reservation and ordered a lightning. Then stumbled upon a Maverick 8 weeks ago and was “very patient” with the dealer. After saying he was patient he said he has daily texts for a month and a half.

He also said he liked the dealer and watched @fordvideoguy. I can’t help but find his story a bit frustrating. If he had been following Tim Bartz he would know they don’t sell canceled orders at MSRP. I don’t remember him saying $7,500 though. Perhaps this guy has reason to complain but seems like he is an impatient person who wanted a deal that wasn’t going to happen. If he was promised MSRP I’d be shocked if they didn’t find a way to honor it.

Can we prove it was even Long McArthur he ordered from?

Anyone that texts their dealer daily for a month and a half is probably an obnoxious prick who deserves to pay over MSRP.

Agreed, also warming up is a must to see where you're driving, its not a comfort thing.

Where I live, I need to scrape the ice off my windshield almost every morning. Windshields needs to be warmed up before driving otherwise it will fog up while driving and if you spray windshield washer (rated for -30F) it will freeze up a few seconds later.

I got in my Mav, which I had remote started about 10 min earlier, and noticed the sulfur smell, so I hopped out and looked at my catalytic converter. This is what I found:

Follow up video with engine off 20 min later:

Truck was started with climate control set to max defrost. I've only noticed the smell with heat turned up high. Normally I set it to 60 degrees, and I don't have the problem, although I do get the weird revving engine sound while it's running after being remote started.

What do I do next? Is Ford going to do a recall, or do people's homes need to burn down first?
I'm reposting this Rgbmaverick's post about the mixture, since it seems the most logical solution but for whatever reason the post (#19 on this thread) is not up any more. It is availabe if you search for the subject matter though. . . perhaps a problem for Administrator. .

Anyway, perhaps the truck is not sensing when to lower the mixture.

It has nothing to do with remote start, really. It will happen in cold weather if the vehicle is parked and trying to heat up cab. So if you like your windows defrosted, you're doomed.
...Great haha

Keep us posted, please!

What are the exact triggers, curious in the first video it sounds like it's revving up and down and almost the "defroster" sound too?

Triggers:
• Heat past halfway?
• Turning on defroster?

In another thread someone said:

I went into cluster remote start and turned off auto climate controls as well as heated seats and heated steering wheel off. The smell and the glowing seemed to have stopped, car runs normal, no engine pulsating.
Have been using remote start for the last 3 days, climate set manually, running for about 5 10 minutes no issues.

Curious what auto climate controls is?

Honestly, that sounds like "why do I live here" weather.
That's insanely cold.
But I agree that anytime it's cold outside it's a safety issue to warm up the vehicle before leaving. A comfortable driver is more capable of dealing with adverse conditions, and lack of visibility is much worse than just being cold.

You can set your climate controls to heat and/or cool your vehicle when it is remote started. That way when you get into the vehicle your car is warm, windows are defrosted or in the summer time cool. Clearly all this has to do with the climate control and the vehicle trying to warm up the cabin. Something is out of whack.

Good morning! Could you please send us a private message with your VIN and dealership information? I would like to look into these catalytic converter concerns for you on my end. Thanks!
