I can’t believe this NEVER happened during cold weather testing ( if they thought about testing remote start in cold weather). Are only a select few having this issue or is everyone with a hybrid experiencing the issue. Are only those below a certain temperature having this happen? Something like this could stop production or at least sales till it is corrected. Plus, who wants to bring a Pinto 2 into their garage. 😳

Anyone see any rumblings on any ESCAPE HYBRID forums?

I find it kind of crazy they've had 2 years of testing in the Escape in cold climate etc. and this issue pops up in the Mavs drivetrain. Something seems funky, did they adjust the software since its more "truck-like"?

I will say that thus far this is the one issue that gives me pause....

How many cases of this are known? I hope you took it to the dealer for diagnosis and repair? Surely you would not ignore this,

Could it be that idling the car for 10 minutes destroys the mileage? I had a fusion hybrid loaner and the days I just got into it, I had great mileage. But if I remote started it for 10 minutes, my mileage was down a to. And cat converters are made to run super hot. A red hot one is nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion.
Of course it does, the mileage computer is calculating fuel used anytime the engine is running, not just when the vehicle is moving

You've clearly never lived in the North. Many cars I've owned would die at the first stop sign or intersection on days it's -10 degrees out.
Yes, & THOSE vehicles had carburetors! If they didn't there was something wrong with them. I still have an 80's FI car & it will start & run properly in any temp.

It has nothing to do with remote start, really. It will happen in cold weather if the vehicle is parked and trying to heat up cab. So if you like your windows defrosted, you're doomed.
Exactly. Remote start has nothing to do with it. Also, the inference one gets from this thread is that this happens to every Hybrid every time you let you let the car warm up in cold weather. There is absolutely no evidence of this. Logic would indicate that this rare problem is due to a faulty sensor.

Indeed....I've warmed up/idled a Prius many times and this has NEVER been an issue, nor have I heard stories abounding re: glowing Prius catalytic converters.

Possibly the ambient temp sensor? Mine is jumping up and down like a fake air/fuel ratio gauge. -12, 0, 30, -7, 22, and so on for the entire drive, every drive.

Wasn't there a post about some overlay?
Found it

If Ford does nothing just let it burn under security cameras.
