Those threads will show you how to swap out the APIM module which really is all you need to do. It really is just plug and play. I'm not going to kid you and say it's easy, it's a PITA getting to the module because it's tight quarters, that really is the hardest part though. Once you get to it then you just unplug the old unit and plug in the new.

I did camera and navigation but it didn't work, still camera only. I'll have to investigate more. I'd like to find the setting to display the nav directions on the instrument cluster but I'm not sure our instrument cluster will handle that.
It works with the Escape cluster swap
Which is the only reason I even want to add navigation
I don’t need it, but it looks cool having the directions in the cluster
@2016BoostedGreyGoose got his to work

The Escape digital cluster swap does look cool. Maybe someday.

If anyone was wanting to buy the unit new.
You would have to program this VIN yourself though.
The guy on ebay that shark bought his from is chaging 499 for the ones he has coming in. Im not sure if it 499 for a used unit or new unit though.

Are you able to update the maps with this? When I go to Ford navigation to get maps it suggests it is done by being sent a USB drive for some unknown price. But they require a VIN to start the process. Seems like a Maverick VIN would bomb out. Disclosure: I don’t have a Maverick yet and thus I don’t have a VIN but this is an upgrade I would like if I ever get one.

android auto is nice, I agree. but if I can do this, I will as well.
while driving I like to listen to audiobooks from my phone but no one else in the car does.
once I plug my phone into the car, the audio plays through the car. I can not seem to get it to play through my earbuds until the phone is unplugged.
Great point. I wonder if there's a setting on your android phone that allows you to use the ear piece or since using an ear piece while driving is illegal in some states, that option is disabled. I have an iPhone, so not as familiar with the Android.

Interesting. I wonder if that can be an added accessory to a 2022 Lariat with same package.

it's funny.i was just browsing around the ford site and found this
1657079046664.png

i think you just proved that it can be done. i think ford is just trying to get the Sync 4 out there are start charging for navigation with a monthly fee.
I'm not one who likes to pay for navigation services when I already can use Car Play. And as someone else pointed out, most in-built car navigations are inferior to the navigation apps on one's phone.

Hopefully APIM's will be cheaper/easier to get now, so we can easily upgrade our 22's.
