I previously shared this guys 165,000 mile review. It seems he has followed up with a 190,000 mile review. I'd wager he likely has the highest mileage of any Maverick currently on the road. He travels around the country doing something for Native American festivals so he spends a ton of time on the road.

So far it seems like he's encountered the following issues;

- Transmission failure at ~90k miles.
- Currently a check engine light for an emissions code.
- Left rear wheel bearing went out at unspecified mileage.
- Rumbling in floorboards when making sharp turns, began at 10k miles but he hasn't pinpointed the cause. Suspects it to be wheel bearings or CV axles. Says it still drives smooth when going straight.
- Rear tail light popping out (mentioned in previous video).

That does not sound promising for long-term EB owners, did this guy do all the needed PM (fluid changes) on his trans?

Judging by the things he was doing with his truck on prior videos he’s put out I’m not really surprised the trans went out when it did. He was definitely putting his to work, a lot of driving and a lot of towing and other various things. I’m not mad about it though I like seeing how things hold up when pushed to the limits. This was just his experience though and everybody’s will be different.

Aha, understood. It's a light duty vehicle after all. My 2013 Escape had zero transmission issues during the time I had it and I was not gentle with the throttle most of the time, it did occasionally tow a light trailer with some gardening stuff like a chipper and a lawn tractor.

Good gravy! Our 1996 Ford Bronco XLT just reached 190,000 miles after 30 years. Our 2023 Maverick Lariat hybrid just reached 18,000 after 2 1/2 years. That guy must love driving.

He didn’t service the transmission at all up to the time it failed and he abuses the thing to. I wouldn’t put too much weight on his reviews unless you do the same kind of things. By that I mean loading and towing well over rated payloads, mud running, and other stuff that is very hard on a vehicle. That said the EB transmission is a known weak spot, but this guy likely did what he did for content for YouTube.

I stopped watching his content early on in his ownership, because frankly the guy is an idiot.

do not overtighten taillight upon reinsertion( cured my tailight problem, mine has 53K miles and been averaging 32 mpg( when driven correctly) I can feel the cheap hope it lasts long enough to trade on an EV pickup( all these fluids are a pita) and gas hasn't became any cheaper,economy-yes-performance yes- durability questionable.(imo) I have never understood the need for an old F 150 size Ranger -Nissan did the right by dropping the extremely durable Titan( the 5.0 diesel wasn't well thought out-I was disappointed when the 2.8 Cummins Fronteir was canceled.

I'll long be 6 feet under by the time my Maverick hits his tranny failure mileage milestone. Currently at 10K heading into 3 years of ownership and running like a top and continues to impress every day.

Suspects a CV axle or wheel bearing that causes a rumbling on turns at 10K and now he has 190K and still rumbling?? Something ain't right there.

Its also a 2022, so first model year, that's the reality of the price you pay for early adoption. In my opinion a mid generation refresh is the best time to buy a vehicle -- most of the mechanical issues have been worked out and mainly aesthetic changes added.

That’s how you learn things from other peoples mistakes if you could look at it that way

I don't disagree with your early adoption theory, but the 8F35 transmission has been in production vehicles in combination with the 2.0 Ecoboost since at least 2019, so the transmission doesn't really apply to a first model year situation.

Op,
This dude gives the best review on our trucks.
I saw the first one you posted also.
If I decide to keep mine till it dies it will be because of this man’s review.
