There's a lot of reasons Ford Maverick is appealing buyers over midsize trucks. Not necessarily in this order mileage, price, ride, bed size, easy to load, ingres and egress the cab, the amount of room in the cab and comfortable seating. Just wondering if any have tried riding or sitting in the rear seat of some of these other manufacturers? I think after friends, relatives see and maybe enjoy the ride and functionality these numbers may even go higher. That is if Ford can build them and keep from raising the price threshold out of reason.

Agreed. The Maverick is 100% the truck I need 98% of the time. The efficiency. Low cost of ownership, and more comfortable on ride road make it a no brainer for me.

Interesting report and it does show the increased interest in compact trucks. Too bad they used the difficult-to-accept front end on the 2025 model.

You can call me a flip flopper as I vocally panned the front end as ugly as ass but it’s growing me on.

It was still poorly done but I CAN see where it is graduating closer to the explorer design at least with the headlights.

I guess for me it’s the lariat headlight that saves it from being total ass.

Yeah, we expect the Maverick to beat the Santa Cruz, but what I found interesting is that it's beating every midsize pickup truck not made by Toyota, unless you combine Colorado and Canyon sales. They don't mention it at all in the article but I think it shows an important trend.

No surprise there. Many people don't need behemoth sized trucks. Heck, today's Maverick is basically the size of a 2011 Ford Ranger and both of those aren't much smaller than my coworker's 2003 F150! Lol

I understand Tacoma at the top but I’m not seeing an overly large amount of new ones on the road. I do really like the new look and this is probably just due to my area.
My son just bought a new Ranger and I like it. Would trade him my FX4 for it, I reckon 😉. So much more appealing to me than the previous gen.

I was waiting for the styling cues to drop for the 25 before I went to order one. Glad i did. That front end will be iconic in a few years. They hated the superduty [ ] lights for a year or two, then everyone went and imitated it.

I think Ford is happy with 100% utilization of Hermosillo, which is how you mint money in the auto industry. I think what they're making now is all they're ever gonna make.

And frankly, I don't think the market will support what they're making now over the long haul. When the Maverick launched, there was a decade of pent-up demand from the product-starved small-truck crowd (after Ford cancelled the old Ranger in 2011). Once Ford has worked through that cohort of buyers, the natural demand is probably down around 80,000 a year. I base that on historic Ranger sales, which you can find here.

PS: Kind of freaky that at its peak, the Ranger sold well over 300,000 a year - for several years. I guess that was us young Boomers buying cheap rides?

Remember, the Ranger isn't really a "small" truck anymore. I think a lot of people think the Ranger will pick up where it left off but it's the size the F150 used to be, and I think the former Ranger buyers are buying Mavericks now, unless they really need towing or off-road capability. I think the Maverick is today's "Ranger."

Plenty of people who aren't keyed into the Maverick now will be in the future. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would give up their compact SUV for a truck that does all they need plus some.

It's not the so much needing a behemoth-sized truck more families do it's just people are tired of paying upwards of 70,000 for a full-size truck. Which is just plain retarded.

I know I'm sick of it every time I purchased a new vehicle 7 to 10 years apart the price increase was around $7,000 for the same model and all they added was minor amenities. Nothing really to the functionality of the vehicle.

Given Ford is still selling these things practically off the assembly line, not much they could have done to increase their ranking beyond building more.

I actually sold our second Maverick (2024 Lariat Hybrid) and bought a 2024 Ranger 4x4 yesterday for my wife. The 2024 Ranger looks a hella better than the 2023, as seen in those sales numbers.

Now that the Maverick is becoming faster to get, I didn't feel the need to have a second one around in case the Tow vehicle got creamed. Side benefit, I am going to tow the Maverick with the Ranger. It is a 4x4 and can tow 7500 lbs, so the Maverick should be a piece of cake for it. Reminds me, I gotta change my signature...
