Thanks everyone for your thoughts (& keep 'em coming). I belive intelligent access is when you have the fob in your pocket and you approach, as you get closer, the doors unlock with no interaction on your part. Very good to hear that the ignition system is a different 'near field' system (per some poster) . Again, I'm overwhelmed by all your thoughts... leaning towards simply keeping my 2022. (1) Hate the new look (wtf Ford?) (2) heated windshield was phenomenal in the North (3) LOVE my pseudo-analogue dash taxh and speedo.
Intelligent access requires you to touch the door handle to unlock the car, not just walk next to it. There's a small button on the handle you push to lock the doors.

I thought this was a gimic until I bought a used Ecosport that had this feature. Within one day I was totally hooked. It's amazingly usefull not to have to dig in my pockets for my keys when I have my hands full of grocery bags.

So I'm seriously thinking about getting a 2025 carbonized grey Mav. I own the first year 2022 Mav XLT with towing package. My dealer says for $45/bi-weekly more, he can get me the exact same build. He says 2 key fobs and keyless entry pad (I guess dealer install? And i thought only 1 key fob now? ). Thoughts? What will I miss from my original? What will I like? If anything... I'm on the fence as there's nothing wrong with my current Maverick (I was even considering purchasing it out right after my lease - I do lease btw). I am thinking, however, it might be nice to have another warranty, etc but, knock on wood, no issues this far. They do seem cheaply built so that's part of my thinking. Also do you think I should try to get him to close the gap between what i currently pay and his proposal? Thanks for any constructive thoughts/considerations you might have.

I'm seriously debating on trading in my 2023 Lariat hybrid for a 2025 Lariat hybrid. I love my truck tremendously but the new updates to the interior, AWD/4k tow option, and the new wheel design have me salivating.

The only thing holding me back from ordering it is checking it out in person. I won't be able to do it until the LA Auto show rolls around next month and I'm able to sit inside of it.

If by then everything checks out good for me, I will head-out to the Ford dealership where I purchased my 2023 and I will sit down with a rep to see if the final numbers make sense financially to make it happen.

And let’s not forget that wonderful gasoline particulate filter on the exhaust included on the 25.
I would be stick with the 22 especially if it’s been good to you.
I heard it was only for places like California because of stricter regulations where other states like Arkansas doesn't care so you get the full 250hp instead of 238hp and no filter but I could be wrong.

Intrigued re: losing analog dash ... would you happen to have a pic (anyone?) Of what the 2025 cluster looks like?
The tach is a bar graph on the left of the digital screen (see below).
The speedometer can have an analog look though (as shown below). However, when you scroll through the menus, which will appear on the upper-right, the analog part is removed as it slides to the left to make room for the menu; you are left with just the speed number.
The current non-tech package equipped Escape uses this cluster, so can go to your delete and check it out.

If your state follows CA emissions (which sadly NY does, so I will be getting it) then you will get the filter.

I'm honestly glad my state doesn't. (Arkansas) I just feel like it's once again another thing you gotta change every so often that was added for no reason but money

And, unlike a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) which regenerates the gasoline type does not. It continues to get loaded/filled with particulates until it has to be replaced because of restriction of exhaust flow.
I’m pretty sure Ford won’t be alone, particulate emissions Are a byproduct of GDI engines. I believe Europe has these already.

I’d prefer to not have it either.

I'm pretty sure Ford only makes 50 state legal vehicles which means everyone gets 238 hp thanks to California.

I think you'll get that wish granted, as an option. probably lariat and higher, and then xl and xlt keep on with the recycled plastic. everything will look a bit different just because, but I do think Ford knows they can sell more 40K+ Mavericks if the interior is better.
I don’t think Ford sells any different interiors outside of leather seats across trim lines though does it?

I have a 22 AWD Lariat. The only reason I am getting a 25 ( on order) is for the AWD hybrid.

Intellient access is HUGE!!!

Yup, makes it easier to steal.
Only for intelligent thieves - or ones that watch youtube and can learn.
Well - Kia/Hyundai proves out that can happen!

Also - everyone gets the hybrid Lariat increased battery drain now! Fairly distributed.

depends on what we're talking about in the scope of 'interior outside of leather seats'.

dashboard itself is fixed on all models, that I have seen. however, the color and materials of the dashboard trim, upper and lower center console definitely vary in most models. the door panels, center arm rest cover. it might not literally be correct to say everything but the top of the dash, but I think that is basically it, for some models like the F150.

the Maverick has more parts that carry across to all models, and those are cheap, easily scratched plastics.

Can you cite any instances where this has happened specifically for a Maverick?
We just had this happen to an F-150. Same electronics. Right in brother-in-law's driveway in a Denver suburb. Not that long ago I watched some thugs with a repeater door shaking all the cars in the parking lot of the Frederick, MD Hampton Inn (OG one by the FSK mall if you're in the area). The cops came and ran them off, but they had opened several cars and relieved the owner's of their belongings in the meantime.

It's trivially easy to open a proximity access (intelligent access by Ford marketing) equipped vehicle. It's not dependent on the manufacturer.

Personally, I hate them. Unfortunately, I have several cars so equipped. Always keep your key in a Faraday case whenever the key will be within about 300' of the car, such as office, hotel, restaurant and so on. The jungle website sells several varieties of these...be sure to test it too...not all work that well.

Convenience and security are always diametrically opposed. If you have one you lose the other.
