I just read the terms of service and privacy policy of Drive Smarter, as I added a 360c to use when I go fetch cars.
it's a privacy problem, so won't be using it.
Ford graciously replaced both of the CV shafts on my 2022 Maverick at about 99k miles. When I had it on the lift for the last oil change, I noticed "size up" on a label on both shafts.
I suppose 'size up' is appropriate.
Good afternoon!
For the vast majority of consumers, your approach is perfect.
For those of us who geek out on the details, the rabbit hole has no bottom!
Couple of comments here, but first some background.
I have a modified Porsche 911 that makes quite a bit more power than stock and regularly gets run hard. I don't know if it's a Porsche thing or a modification thing, but this particular engine is very sensitive to oil. As a result, I've run it...
What we donāt know is how it tests out of the bottle. Is it off when new, or shearing in use?
Since Iām not seeing any problem wear in the sample or oil consumption, Iām not inclined to investigate further.
I had to look that up. Mostly Kirkland.
The factory fill came out at about 1500 miles.
The car was in for a recall and I had a dealer freebie, so it got a dealer oil change at 25k that came out at 30k. So, whatever they dumped in it.
Motorcraft FL-910s filters exclusively.
Based on experimentation with different lubricants and hundreds of oil samples over the years, my prediction is that you would see the exact same results with a conventional vs synthetic oil at a 5k interval. There just isn't a significant difference in real world performance among different...
There is no question that I'm leaving oil life behind at a 5k mile interval.
I'm comfortable with that tradeoff having seen the inside of other GDI motors with poor maintenance practices.
Near as I can tell it's based on unicorn tears and hope.
That said, one has to presume that testing taking place in a perfect environment of clean air, consistent temperatures and effective oil filtration.
I don't generally order TBN on lubricants that I know well and have established good performance. This has been a good stable oil in several different motors over the years, and is working well in the Maverick.
I just did the 100k service last weekend and am at about 101k now. Sent in an oil sample.
Provided the oil analysis is still good (I send a sample every 25k) I'm still on track to make 200k drama free miles.
FWIW...I'm at 99800 and there is no sign of problems. My guess is the actual failure rate as a % of the total number sold is pretty moderate.
Clean fluid will help a lot.
I had this issue and dropped the car off at the dealer with a copy of the customer satisfaction program (25N09). They called about 45 minutes later and said that both halfshafs were on order and would be replaced under the program. No muss no fuss.
I'm about 99,200ish miles, which is about the...
Let's continue to compare notes. I'll schedule those recalls soon and visit with the dealer to see what they see.
For what it's worth...I just pulled up my Maverick on CarFax, and the mileage estimate is not even close. i drive a lot and spread that mileage across several cars, so the CarFax...
