Actually...
I just had mine replaced and verfied both with Safelite and my local body shop that this is not aftermarket glass in the system for the Maverick just yet.
SPOILER. It's expensive. Especially if you have CP360.
Pickups aren't my thing, but I work in Agriculture and live in Kansas. This gets most of the use where a manual transmission small sports car isn't practical. The Maverick is not the first set of keys either my wife or I reach for. That said, it drives just like the small front drive car it is...
There is a drain plug on the bottom and a fill plug on the side. Changing the fluid is simple. The filter is strictly internal though. Perhaps that's a big reason why the prevailing advice is to keep clean fluid in the things.
There isn't a pan you can drop on that trans, so it probably has to have the case split to change the filter. It wouldn't be hard to get it out of a FWD, not sure on AWD.
Either way, it's more of a chore than an "old school" transmission.
The 8 speed "non-severe" service interval is very clearly 150k per the owner's manual. There is a scan of the actual manual elsewhere in this thread.
I don't have not owned and do not anticipate owning a CVT equipped vehicle, so don't have any observations to report.
I see your point, but don't believe it's linear in that way. The first drain will generally be the dirtiest as the manufacturing debris and initial wear enter the fluid. The analysis is measuring what is suspended in the fluid, so removing that first drain contamination should lead to a cleaner...
My Maverick is FWD, so I don't have one. I do keep the diff fluid fresh in the couple of AWD vehicles I own, particularly the high strung Subaru that's hard on everything.
I'm sure there are plenty of AWD members with some comments on that.
I read that aluminum, iron, copper are significantly too high, and tin is a bit too high at 60k miles when compared to Blackstone's unit averages for the same transmission and fluid combination.
So, what I hope to see on the next report is the metals in the fluid more in line with the averages...
They don't. Blackstone only reports what's in the fluid. it's up to you to interpret that and maintain the machine to your level of comfort.
This report shows uncomfortable metals. The silicone is new transmission stuff. The metals may or may not be new transmission stuff, which is why I'll...
This transmission oil report is for the 8 speed...NOT the eCVT.
I've spoken with more than one qualified Ford techs recently who swear that 30k is the maximum responsible fluid change for the 8F35. Since I missed the 30k interval, I changed it at 60k and sent a sample. The results are attached...
Thanks to everyone who put tips on here. I have the cheap Kia part wired up to the radar detector wiring I had already run, so it went together clean and easy.
Very pleased with the result.
First, this is great work and thanks for posting it. It's very helpful to have a list of tracking URLs from the mobile apps.
Did you test on iOS, Android or both?
I had previously confirmed that the TCU operates independently of the mobile apps. Since I pulled fuse 11, my car stopped sending...
Hmmmmmm. I do not have a TCU behind the seat. The part number decodes to a TCU and cross references to a bunch of Ford models.
Here's what mine looks like behind the seat.
I can also verify that 1) The data at Ford stopped when I pulled. the fuse (confirmed by dealer), and 2) the car no longer...
