My keeps locking the driver's side door. Which is a pain since I do deliveries.

Started carrying the extra key. Then realized the Ford app will open. But haven't yet figure out why it gets triggered so easily.

Now gotta figure out why the alarm goes at odd times when I open the door.

Thought my base XL would haven't such techy issues.
SoccerMav....You are hitting the "manual" lock lever on the driver's door with your hand as you get out. It is user error. Search all the posts on it. :)

No search needed; it's any of the previous 8 pages of this same thread. :sunglasses:

This is a good one with a visual aid. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/car-locked-me-out-with-keys-inside.57617/post-973459

You are exactly right.
And again here is a video of how easy it happens.

And here's some more videos of what can and can't happen when you have your keys in the truck.
Probably shouldn't have rushed. But hey - that's what happens when keys get locked in cars!

My Maverick does not auto lock, The door handle on the inside is right under the lever to lock the doors, I have accidently bumped the lever when I was opening the door from the inside and locked the door as I was opening it.

I think only the Lariat auto locks but it does have a sensor to know the keys are still inside so it does not auto lock if they are. I just have an XLT so no auto lock and no sensor to know if the keys are inside. I guess that is one of the things that comes with the Lariat.

Do you have a XL, XLT, or Lariat?
You can lock the keys inside the push start hybrid maverick if you lock it with the key pad. Using the keypad tell the truck it's ok you know the combination!!!!

Your probably right but I've got to get in and out of the car 50-100 times per day and I wish there was a switch or setting which would turn it off. Waaah! : )

You'll see in my video my new habit.
Unlock with handle pull - hand to the arm rest handle to push with.
I think I have that new habit down.
I've noticed on previous Rav4 that method would have already been smart to get down as habit too.
The lock button is easily hit by knuckle on pulling handle, probably the saving grace it's a rotating lock, not lever.

Yup. The reason I got the XL is not to have the stupid tech stuff (no 360 either, don't even want a back up camera since I want my spine to work as I age). And yet the tech still exists. :) . Ah well. Maybe we'll get the option or software update to fix that or set it to leave the car unlocked.

don't count on it.

That's the failsafe right there - manually pushing a lever, if done the system figures this was intentionally desired.

Compared to the lock all button is seen as possibly accidental so won't let you do it.

The problem is the design team didn't think about location and ease of manually pushing it.
It could have been placed further towards the hinge, to an unlikely push spot due to difficulty of leverage, and problem solved.

I've also gotten into my knee starting the motion as hand moves down after unlock.
My shoulder is shot right now, perhaps that motion could become part of therapy later!

Sooooo two nights ago I was driving north for the holidays. I parked in a lot and got out of the car to get something. The car immediately locked me out with my phone, keys, and dog inside. This has never happened before - it’s never locked itself with keys inside (or outside! I always have to manually lock it with the fob). It was freezing and I was outside for 3 hours waiting for a locksmith in the middle of the night. Anyone else have this happen? In case it matters, I have a 2023 Maverick with 30k miles. Just took it in for service a few weeks ago. Thanks for your help!
Idk if it was mentioned or not but if you have a smart watch you can use the ford app to start/stop and lock/unlock from it.

I know - I never set it up. I’m definitely doing that today! But as a more serious issue, why did it lock me out?
This has happened to me 50x since I do deliveries (mostly in the dark). On this or another thread it has been clarified.

So I finally actually looked at the handle and door lock. So if the lock get touched while opening the handle. It'll autolook.

Thus, ya gotta make sure before you close the door. That the lock is or remains open.

Not so easy to see at times.

So if Mabett is monitoring this. Make us that switch in yellow, orange, etc.

That way it'll be easier to see.

I was going to apply a silver or orange tape just as an additional measure.
But dumb that it is same color since many of us had this issue.

I'd really prefer a switch which disables this.

Yes, I’m following this thread, and I’ll consider developing a product like this. If more people are interested, please reply to my comment!

Are you saying that every Maverick doesn't have that? I thought every ford vehicle came with that as a standard feature.
The keyless entry keypad is EXCLUDED on 2025MY. It's a dealer installed option now. My salesman said "they expect you to use Ford Pass app" instead. Poo! I loved the touchpad on previous Fords.
