I have on many times - hit the lock button on my vehicle when getting out of it.

I'll have to assume you did this unless it happens frequently. Good thing Ford gives you many ways to resolve user error.
This is my thinking for the OP as well.
My 23 xl has key left in it all the time on jobsites when I have to get out and unlock gates or talk to subs. Quick run in the construction site. Never been locked out.....but i have accidentally hit the button but I heard it and unlocked it.

Been locked out twice...but only when leaving the key in the car and stepping out to picking up mail from my mailbox...door not fully closed but still locked...Thankful for having the keypad.....and "FordPass".

this my third Ford with the keypad but since I seldom use it I always forget the numbers :(
I always enter the numbers in my phones contact list ;)
Make it your birthday, easy. 5/16/68, or if less than 5 add 0 to end. 6/5/680

Note that the manual door lock button only locks the door it's on. The electric one locks all doors. If you hit the manual lock getting out check the other doors to see if any of them are unlocked.

Snowy / icy morning. Started car with key, and when I finally went out to leave I was locked out. Thankfully I was home and could use my second key to unlock. Not good if I’m not at home.
The same thing has happened to me several times. In my cases I accidentally bumped against the manual door lock lever just above the door handle and the door would lock. In my opinion there needs to be a better design. Maybe this is what caused your door to lock.

You can program your own code into the numberpad (in addition to the default one). Wife and I easily came up with a 5digit code we both remember for the rest of our lives.....

YES, Don't forget the keypad, depending on trim, although gone for '24.

Haven't used it yet, but so glad I opted for the remote start option, for times when Ford-Pass is down, or not responding right away....or the truck has gone into deep-sleep for some reason. After thinking about it, I had them add it back onto the rollover order for the $125 or whatever the cost was. Figure no need to open the snow covered door to start it up before clearing off the snow & scraping the glass, just a couple of taps.

Our work Mavs do this from time to time and it's not from hitting the lock.

Keypad is still available as an option from the dealer.

I've accidentally set off the panic alarm while my Mav was parked in the garage and the fob in my pocket. I have a few keys on the fob and that may be why it happens.

I'm sure it's also why I've found the doors locked when I left them unlocked while parked in my garage.

Conjecture here, but a running vehicle with the keys in the ignition is a safety and security liability. A thief or spunky pre-teen could jump in that thing and go for a ride while you're still inside packing your to-go coffee.
Push buttons are the same, will drive as long as there is gas, fob is not required for the would be thieves

There must be a fault that is causing people to be locked out, my last Ford vehicle a Taurus, you could not lock the door with a key in the ignition, if you pushed the lock button & closed the door, it would unlock, if you pushed the lock button down & closed the door it would unlock, if you opened the door & locked it with the remote & closed the door it would unlock, the only way you could lock the door with the key in the ignition was get out close the door & lock it with the remote. I haven't tried any of these scenarios with my Maverick yet since I have the keypad, but I will have to try them, I can't believe Ford would move away from something like this that worked on an early 2000's vehicle.

My doors have mysteriously locked themselves several times and it was definitely not due to me inadvertently hitting the button(s). It just does it randomly. Fortunately, I have the keypad so I'm not too worried about it.

Hmmm good to know, I actually like this feature since I hated not being able to lock my Subaru while I ran into the store for something and leave the ac on for my dogs.
