Been following this thread since it started in 2022. Finally just got to a point where I am able to tackle it. I have most of the materials on order and the bulk of them should be here by the end of the week. I'll receive the radar and steering wheel switch in the next couple days. I'll install the switch the day I receive it and will have to wait until the 26th to start everything else with how my work schedule is. I spent hours studying the tutorial. Got confused more than a few times and had to figure things out. I believe I have everything understood. Wish me luck guys.

I found looking up videos of how to install a dash cam helped as well. I'm thinking about starting a new thread as the OP has a few errors and leaves out a lot of small things (and pics) that can be added to, and has disappeared.

Here's one (there are many):

And another about installing Comma.ai box, which shows the IPMA module:

I'd be very interested to check out your tutorial if you decide to make one. The lack of pictures from this one is rather frustrating.

@inline_five What amp fuse do I need to add into the fuse tap? The tutorial says to use the existing fuse from 3 or 6 and then an extra into it but does not specify what the amp should be. Should it match the rating on the fuse I'm tapping into?

I used slot 3 so I have 2 10’s in there. Not sure if you’ve already ordered a fuse tap but make sure it’s micro2.

I just got back from Autozone. Got the correct fuse tap and a little assortment of fuses that includes a fuse puller. Got a 10 amp fuse installed into it in preparation for when the project fully starts.

So this is where I get fuzzy on car electronics, maybe @GDI Guy could chime in here. The fuse location that most of us pull from is #6, it's sized for a single 10 amp fuse. In a house, you size the breaker based upon the wiring used in the circuit.

Putting in the original 10 amp fuse and then another 5 amp for ACC, does wiring (power delivery) to fuse box and plug support an additional 5 amp load (or in @noneya 's case an additional 20 amps? I'd guess not, personally. Will it be fine? 5 I'm sure, an additional 20, maybe not, if they really start to pull.

Furthermore, we are running 18 gauge power from the fuse to the ACC.

The adaptive cruise control is slot 21 in the engine bay, it takes a 5 amp fuse.

I recommend 5 amps. It goes on the top, assuming your 12v power comes from the bottom with the fuse tap facing towards the passenger side.

#6 inside for most us only runs the "driver door switch pack" which isn't going to pull much if anything, as we don't have an inverter or power rear window.

You're right, the purpose of the fuse is to protect the weakest link in the wiring to the device, along with providing the power required by the module without "nuisance blows".
So if you are using 18 gauge stranded wire to drive the module, it is only recommended to carry around 5-6 amps steady state. Stick with a fuse with that rating and it will do its job...

I got the first step done for my project. Installed the steering wheel buttons. Getting the wheel off was easy. It was a bit of a challenge to get the faceplate off to get access to the switch.

Baby steps! I saved that until the end, as I had never removed a steering wheel before and didn't want to mess with it if I couldn't get the rest of the stuff installed.

The hardest part of all of this for me was getting the pax A pillar trim off. It's really quite an easy mod.

This is a great tutorial on how to remove the front clip, I followed it exactly:

2022-2024 Ford Maverick Raptor Style Grille: Detailed Installation

FYI, an electric ratchet like this Hyper Tough 4V Cordless Ratchet with 2.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery, 1/4-in Drive - Walmart.com makes it super fast and easy. Also! You don't need to remove all the skid plate/plastic torx screws per the original post in here, just the front four IIRC. I removed six of the body panel clips in the wheel wells, not five.

I bought 25' of GXL wire and used most of it.

Also, I have updated my parts list with current info:

Adaptive cruise control ***PARTS LIST***

Got my BCM reflashed yesterday for the brake light recall. Lost my all my mods. Has the Forscan stuff changed or does it change with the BCM update? If I recall all the Forscan stuff was spread out in this thread has it been compiled in a thread? I really don’t want to dig through 54 pages to find it.

Reminder to backup your stuff before recall (or any dealer scheduled work actually) work.

Some people ended up with slightly different coding to get everything to work, so if you didn't backup yours, you gotta start over for the most part.
Bummer.
