Throwing a quick set of pictures up on my phone for removing the factory steering wheel switches, all you need is a flathead screwdriver and a t8 torx, use the random holes in the steering wheel from behind to pry and push the little tabs with the flathead and it'll pop right off, then use the torx for the screws holding the switches on.

Very interesting to see if you can make XLT steering wheel cruise switch work. I seen where you can order them for under $80, one place was $18 plus shipping.

Happen to have a link for the $18 plus shipping? Can't seem to find it anywhere,

Thanks again Tyvemattis. You are making things much easier for a lot of folks that may be resistant to tinkering. Not me, I love tinkering and finding out how things work, but I appreciate your efforts because it makes me want to tinker more. Awesome job with cool stuff.

Is it difficult to get the airbag out? I’ve messed with the steering wheel on a pre airbag car, but not one with it.

You have to take a smaller flat head or pick and turn the wheel 90 degrees both ways, each side there's a little tabs that you have to stick the screw driver in and press towards the steering column

Doesn't it require programming ??? Seems like just adding a switch will not cut it.

I added a CC switch on a diesel Smart car, and took it to a shop supposedly expert on that car, but they could not program it, and actual dealership refused to do it.

quick question… is there anyway you could have taken those switches out and replaced them without taking the steering wheel off?

Yes they require programming, this is a prerequisite to my programming thread.

It's highly unlikely. It's only 2 airbag clips, 3 wiring clips, and the steering wheel bolt. Just tear into it.
