I changed it to sport, turned traction control off and it was still a lagging dog… Im sure a manual makes a huge difference.
That's very interesting. Yeah when I change mine to Sport mode it's like a completely different car. Or course I'm not at all saying it's like driving a 5.0L but it does actually make it fun to drive.

I haven't "punched" my hybrid Mav yet. I'm afraid I'll break the CV axles! Just kidding! I bought the hybrid for fuel economy so I drive easy. I have my 67 Shelby GT500 when I need to put my foot into it! :)
I will say I am impressed with the Mav, it scoots along pretty well as far as I am concerned.
“Scoots”!! 😂 That’s funny - My 2010 5.0 could really scoot!!
So having said that I wouldn’t say I’m impressed with my Hybrids speed; I didn’t buy it for that but I am quite satisfied with it…

I don't know if "impressed" is the right word for me.
"Adequate" is probably what I'd say.
But that's a good thing.

I'm coming from a 100hp (about 100lb torque too) sub compact.
I'm impressed with the Maverick's quick start especially in Sport mode. Not necessarily racing anyone, but just for fun once in a blue moon to leave everyone else in my rear view mirror. Truth be told, speeding in urban areas accomplishes nothing as far as getting anywhere faster. I'm always saying to myself at those who race and jockey for position, "See ya at the next light".

Try the Sport mode if only for the experience. I think you'll be surprised.

I have. Still not impressed. But it’s got enough, and I bought it as a commuter box not a performance/fun vehicle. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a bad vehicle to drive but it’s not sporty. But that also depends on what you’ve driven before.

My wife is very happy with the power in her 24 xl hybrid. I am happy with her power to mpg. What i am impressed with is the power in my 22 xl 2.0 turbo, off the light it is very quick. Ordered a 24 xl hybrid for myself to replace my 22 xl 2.0 but i an so impressed with the 2.0 turbo power that i can't let it go.

24 Lariat, and actually I think I am impressed, positively. Just went over 1000 miles so by user manual it’s broken in!

I passed a truck today & it was plenty zippy. This week we’re staying on the coast & the driveway is directly onto the 55 MPH PCH with limited visibility to the right. So basically when going left you look right & nail it 😂😂😂 I do believe zero to 60 is dang quick. And I haven’t tried sport mode yet! TOMORROW! 😂

My 23 XL hybrid surprised me immediately with how torquey it feels, especially at takeoff. That electric motor really does help a lot, it really does have enough power for it's job. I've never once needed more power than it has. I think a lot of it has to do with that ecvt, it's by far the smoothest transmission I've ever used. Completely seamless power delivery combined with that electric motor.

I can't vouch for towing, but I've had 900lbs in the bed multiple times, and it handles it with zero issues as far as power or handling. Or MPG. I really hope it stays reliable lol, I really like my mav a lot.

You've got TWO power plants under the hood instead of one. Why wouldn't it lean towards the fast side??? 😎
The Dodge Hornet did that. I'm pretty sure the Maverick sells more in one year than the Hornet has sold in it's entire lifetime.

I used Sport mode when I was trying to warm up the engine faster when I did my last oil change. I laughed out loud when I felt the "fake" transmission shifts! It was noticeably quicker, yes.

It does everything I need it to do. Zero issues merging, passing etc. I'm impressed with the engine considering I regularly get 40+ mpg in normal driving.

I have never used Sport mode in the 2.5 years I have had this truck. Time to get experience some fake shifts!!

Also that butter smooth eCVT!

This is our first vehicle with an eCVT and it is just amazing. Give me a manual for my fun cars and an eCVT for everything else!

I think the off-the-line response is very good. I enter a highway from a county road ,and It gets me in the mix well without slowing approaching drivers. Otherwise, I drive fairly reserved.
