I don't know if "impressed" is the right word for me.
"Adequate" is probably what I'd say.
But that's a good thing.

I'm coming from a 100hp (about 100lb torque too) sub compact.
I came from a 2018 Hyundai Kona 2.0, that thing would just make noise and go nowhere on the on ramps 😆 I feel like I bought a race car now😂

Overall feeling of responsiveness (not just power) of vehicles that I've owned and/or daily-driven (in descending order):
  1. 2005 Mustang (V6)
  2. 2018 Honda Accord (1.5T)
  3. 2024 Maverick (hybrid)
  4. 2002 Jaguar XJ
  5. 1991 Mazda 323
  6. 1993 Ford Aerostar
  7. 2001 Dodge Intrepid (2.7)
  8. 2002 Ford Expedition
  9. A bicycle
  10. My own two feet
  11. Walking on my hands
  12. Just sitting still and screaming "PUSH ME!" at passersby
  13. 1972 Cadillac Coupe deVille
A few months in, I'm still shocked by how similar my Maverick feels to that older Mustang. Yeah, it's not as fun or as solid, but it's much closer to fun and solid than that godawful Intrepid was.

You rate the Coupe deVille lower than walking on your hands. Interesting. I rate it just above.

I am impressed that it accelerates good and still gets over 40 mpg. No complaints, and I come from a Mustang GT.

Not impressed, but content. I am impressed by the way it pulls a brick like trailer up a hill though.
I agree. While not heavily loaded, the Maverick has no problem passing while pulling a 5x8 cargo trailer.

Very quick off the line, if needed. Gets through the on ramps quite quickly. That is the only time I use that.

I'm likin' it ALOT.

On paper my 2012 Focus 5 speed was a couple tenths faster 0 to 60 but the low end torque of the traction motor makes the Mav feel a bit quicker down low where it counts.

I've never timed my 66' Mustang but I suspect it's faster:

302 bored 60 over
Holley 650 DP
RTR MSD Electronic Ignition
351 Windsor DOOE heads 1.84"/1.54"
Hooker Headers H pipe performance mufflers
over .5" lift, over 300 degrees duration cam (lopey)
10.5" clutch
4 sp Toploader
9" Posi trac 3.10
Shelby traction bars (zero wheel hop)
3/4" rear sway bar
1" front sway bar
1" drop heavy duty front springs (corners like it's on rails)

Loved the quick torque in town, but never raced the hybrid. Poor eCVTs

should you drop into this thread out of curiosity like I did—and you are on the fence deciding between drag racing a hybrid or eco boost….
As others have said, get those test drives in.

Throwing a few pennies into the mix.
Two Ecoboosts and a Hybrid In my history.
Power wise, the turbo vs hybrid is very noticeable.
The hybrid is great, the ecvt is smooth, and makes a great daily—it really is enough.
But if you want more—The eco boost Mav was an excellent replacement for my Fiesta ST’s performance, and more. Much better driving and body comfort.

MPG is very different in city driving. Not so much on highway.

That being said, I will be stepping out of my eco boost, and returning to hybrid, as it’s more truck than I need these days.
