Still A Work In Progress. Subject to change.
Rough
measurements are 47"x27" trimmed down to 41" to fit between the wheel wells.
The fold up riser panel 9"x41"
I got cardboard and made a template and built this slide out bed mod over the last few weeks. Working in couple hours a day in the morning while it was under 100°. When the day starts out at over 90° doesn't take long to hit over 100°
It allows you 27" of storage, same as a smaller SUV.
It has a hinged 9" riser in the back, so you can stack some stuff and not have it roll to the front when you stop. The nice part is it slides out over the tailgate Gap on to the tailgate.
I was not a big fan of the 2x6 divider. It only gave me 15" of storage and it wasn't high enough to stop stuff from falling over. Having spinal arthritis it was a pain they have to reach over the tailgate to put things into the bed or remove things.

I like your design. It's cool how it slides out. But I'm not particularly skilled with my hands, so I got this sliding divider from Ford with my points. It works really well and I have a vertical net I use with it.

I like your design, but I'm not very creative or particularly skilled with my hands, so I got this sliding divider from Ford with my points. It works really well and I have a vertical net I use with it.

Thank you I appreciate the kind words.
I almost pulled the trigger on that Ford divider.
It just didn't have the flexibility I needed.
I have a hard tonneau cover, if I had that divider and I bought at the store that was a little longer. I didn't want to have to open the tonneau cover to adjust the divider. I wanted it to be able to fit over the top that's why I only made my upright 9 in tall so I could still put stuff over the top of the upright divider.
But what I built also slides out so that I don't have to bend over the tailgate to get to it I can pull it to me.
Take care,
GB

Between you me and the fence post I received a c- in woodshop.
I have ideas, implementing them is not my strong suit. I couldn't cut a straight line even with a straight edge.
That is why it is always, "A work in progress." I constantly change design or refine as I go along.

Nice! So what is this, that allows the divider to fold down toward the front?

A steel support rod/bracket.
Actually when you take the support/rod brackets off. The divider folds forward, thus giving you almost a flat floor except for the actual round hinge part.
As in the picture 👇 below.

Love it.
Does it have glides/wheels/casters underneath to make it easier to slide?

Nope. Just carpet strips.
Casters or rollers would increase the height, cost, plus pulling it out they would get caught in the tailgate gap between the bed and the tailgate.
I wanted a cheap & simple project.
Less than $30 including paint. 👍
"KIS" keep it simple

I like simple. How much weight can you put on it and still slide?

Love the folding rule. Old school.
Those folding rules also double as "plumbers" bottle openers. Commonly used to train the new hires when RC colas and others came in glass bottles. Put the folded ruler with brass end under the bottom of metal bottle cap while holding bottle and ruler with one hand then hitting the bottom of folded rule (taking care to strike the same stick that has the brass end under the cap, but not telling the new guy) and popping cap right off! Then group laughing at new guy when he breaks his brand new ruler by hitting the bottom of the folded rule further out! Really breaks the ice with the new guy and the plumber that showed the new hire how to do it gives him a replacement ruler.😂😂😂

Yeah a little more cargo room would be nice at times. Your idea gave me an idea. Could make a divider out of 2X6's with a couple behind to act as a stop.

I like this! I haven't used any of my points, and was looking for something that's worth spending them on. I already have an elastic cargo net, and a ratchet bar, and 2 Home Depot heavy-duty, low profile bins. But yours is so much more efficient for what I do/need. I'll look into this! Thanks! (How many points was it, or points/cash combo, if you don't mind me asking?)

I built this slide out bed mod over the last few days.
It allows you 27 in of storage same as in a smaller SUV.

I was not a big fan of the 2x6 it only gave me 15 inches of storage and it wasn't high enough to stop stuff from falling over it and I still had to reach over the tailgate of the truck to put stuff in.

I like your design! Are you familiar with a site called instructables.com ? You should submit this ... it would probably go over really well (that is, if you wanted to share it with a more widespread audience). I think lots of ppl would love to have this.
