When I accelerate from a dead stop, I can feel something engage. Is it the gas motor starting up?

Do you mean the weird thunk/clank? Mine does that sometimes. No idea what it is.

Yes it's a clunk. If I ease on the pedal slowly I don't notice it. Normal accelerating I feel it.

Is this clunk normal with all Hybrids or do I need to go to the dealer?

Even more interesting are all the clicks and "Hybrid" noises it makes when parked with ignition off. That really worried me until everyone assured me it was normal......
Yeah, I guess that's what I was looking for here. Some assurance or a negative response
Appreciate it all

I was sitting in my truck for around two hours yesterday, in my garage. I got a steering wheel cover for Father's Day and I was putting it on. Required threading lacing, so it took awhile. I had the key fob in my pocket. Every few minutes, it would sound like a telegraph office!
Yes, the clicks and clacks and clunks from a hybrid are "normal".

I am a previous Ford Focus owner. The ones with the Dual Clutch Transmissions. After the fourth replacement and it needed a fifth when the warranty ran out . My wife and friends still can't believe I bought another Ford product. If GM would've made something like the Maverick I would've bought that one! So I'm a little suspicious of any kind of clunk, slip or noise.
On the good side I got 300 miles to the first half of the gas tank!

Hey Randy...My 2022 ecoboost turbo do the same thing. When I originally bought my little beast I sat onside trying to figuring out all the gadgets and kept hearing those clicks and just chaulked it up new tech stuff. Interestingly it seems those clicks happen even after 15 minutes or more from being shut off

My guess is that under hard acceleration it is the ICE kicking in. I drive with a light foot. I don't race off when the light turns green. My '24 hybrid starts off in all-electric mode and is smooth. However, if I push it, I can feel the ICE join the electric, it is slight, not jerky.

Just reaching for ideas, is it time to change the fluid in your eCVT? In ICE powered automatic trans vehicles, I have found trans fluid changes is an underappreciated and frequently ignored maintenance item that makes a difference as to how the vehicle feels and performs.

I've had to change the way I drive in the hybrid. Stopping is different if I want to get the most out of regen braking. I have to modulate the brake differently than in my wife's vehicle which is ICE only.

Thank you Oscarcat. I'm looking for MPG's every time I drive it. It's not a jerky feeling just expected smooth no matter how hard I accelerate. I noticed today that in sport mode it seemed smoother taking off. It's kind of you to offer input. I have 330 miles on it now so, I'll keep the trans fluid fresh and clean. I 'm liking it more and more every day. It handles remarkably well.

My wife's non-hybrid Bronco Sport makes all those noises too. My garage sounds like a click-fest anytime we walk out of the house. :)

I have to listen closely to tell when our '24 changes from ICE to battery or vice versa. Barely noticeable.
