Crap. XL doesn't need carpeted floors for what it is designed to do. IE: Work, play bare bones truck. Looks like I will need to put a new blade in my box cutter.
there's very likely at least some minimal amount of padding insulation under the carpet. might be worth keeping as-is for a little road noise deadening effect and just add all weathers on top?

Good point. Ill unscrew the door floor plate so I can look under carpet. If it doesnt help with sound ill take carpet out. It is SO much easier to use a mini power blower to blow junk out after a weekend beach overland or weekend on the trail

$27,155 for an AWD XL? you must have added quite a few extras.

My AWD Lariat w/ 4k Tow is $30,128.. Edit to add: MSRP of $31,830

This is probably one of the stupidest reasons you will hear for someone ordering an XLT instead of an XL, but I did just that because of the lack of fold down cupholders in the rear seat. My kids always have drinks..I know there is the spot to "print your own " stuff and hang from the console. That being said , I still felt the need for the fold down units.

the 2 big things are Cruise Control and Power mirrors. Power tailgate. Wiper activated headlights. Key pad. Alarm system. Better interior. Rear center arm rest. And better exterior
Power mirrors are part of the Ford Co-Pilot360 Package on the XL so you can get them if you want.

XLT has 4 extra tie downs in the bed and bed side storage cubby.

Cruise control and remote locking unlocking of the tailgate are pushing me to XLT.
I could live without those things but they would be nice.
I will get co-pilot 360 either way, so power mirrors will be on the XL from that option.
