Has anyone that has done the last round of recalls for the engine fire felt the engine shudder again?

I felt it a couple weeks ago for the first time and didn't think much of it, but I felt it a second time yesterday. Both times it was a short stretch of roads in a neighborhood with stop signs every block. I had to press the gas on one stretch to get up a small incline, the gas engine turned on, then I came to a stop sign and stopped a little less smooth than normal but not fully abrupt. The engine shudder occurred as the engine was trying to swap back to battery. If you had the original shudder, it felt just like it with the same noise. I've only had this happen twice to my knowledge since getting the last set of recalls done. I had 3 recalls done at once. I think it was the engine fire, the tail light not letting you know it was out and another one dealing with the battery or a surge or something.

Just curious if anyone else is having the engine shudder issue again? @Ford Motor Company

I've had most of the recalls done at this point. I've noticed it when the engine is turning on but I'm coming to a stop. It will get confused and shudder.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

I just had the 3 recalls done last week. I have not noticed the shutter reappear. I hope this doesn’t resurface. When I got my truck last May it started doing that with 800 miles on it. Finally got resolved in August and had been perfect since. I hope I don’t regret these recalls

Like I said, I've only felt it twice since having the recalls done on 5/10/24. Granted, I was out of town without using this vehicle for one of those weeks. So maybe 2 times in 2.5-3 weeks of use. I also don't have a ton of miles on this vehicle. Probably just over 10K or 10.5K.

Yes. This was a new occurrence after the last round of updates. When coming to a stop, the system seems to get confused and abruptly turn off the gas engine right when the mechanical brakes will engage, causing a massive shutter.

It's very, very hard to duplicate, so there's no point in bringing it into the dealer.

Probably happens 1-2x per week for me since I drive through a lot of stop and go traffic.

Yeah, I'm gonna be smart, and ignore getting any software recalls done. Seems like there's a 5% chance of making things better, and a 95% chance of making things worse. I got the grabby brake, and shudder updates done a long time ago, those were robust updates than only served to improve the maverick. But these latest updates, my God.

Maybe we should get a running tally of recalls to get, and which ones to avoid. I want to get the one that pertains to the low battery, seems like it'll help. But I'm worried it'll cause issues. Seems like the taillight recalls are a definite no go.

I have a late build '23 hybrid and have had zero recalls done. I posted about this issue a few weeks ago.

I believe it's unrelated to recalls and a feature not a bug of how the transition is designed.

My wife's Prius does something similar, albeit not as abrupt.

Not really sure how they could fix it tbh.

O manure, I'm sitting in the Stealership right now getting all of those done, plus a tire rotation, oil change and a "Mini Detail." They offered for my birthday I know that they don't have a carwash on site so we will see if the 5 weeks of road and camping grime will come off.
They just asked if I had a tuning module or had reprogrammed the computer because they couldn't get a reading, this could be interesting only Turd has touched the damn computer on my XLT.

There was an original recall to fix the engine shudder and grabby brakes. I had those done a while back when it came out. Haven't had the issue that I can recall up until I got the last 3 recalls on 5/10/24. I put off the taillight recall until they had the battery recall. And now I have noticed the shudder has returned. Maybe not as often. And it is extremely difficult replicate on demand. I do think it occurs more often in eco mode than other modes. But as said previously, its really not even worth bringing it in cause the dealership will just drive the car around for 20-30 miles and say they couldn't replicate the issue and give it back. And you are out a vehicle all day cause they never have a loaner and they will have used up some of your gas without anything to show for it.

Yes, but that recall was for something else. It was much more pronounced.

You said you had done zero recalls done. I assumed that meant you didn't have the original shudder fixed.

I didn't need to have that one done - I have a late build '23.

I think what I'm trying to get across is what we are experiencing is not what the old stutter was, it's just random normal operation of the vehicle. I typically see this when slowing down and the motor kicks on/off right when I let off the brake pedal. Just bad timing.

Most times when I slow down the result is extremely smooth.

I had the old shudder and it went away after the recall. The stopping became smooth everytime. This shudder shakes the vehicle and makes a metal rattle sound as it comes to a stop. It definately does not feel normal, but maybe it is?

I'm guessing the clunking sound is the engine/transmission dampener or engine starting/stopping at some inopportune time. I really don't know. I know many have experienced it so what we are seeing is more normal they abnormal. Not that it makes it better.

There is definitely something going on though that doesn't sound right or give me hope for longevity of the system.
