Today I ended my saga with the highly anticipated time I would spend with my loaded XLT. It started in Oct. of 2021 when I Placed my order and welcomed it with open arms on May 5th, 2022. Almost 2 years to the day ... it's gone. The past 3 months have been a real pain in the ass. Ford Motor Company is at fault. In late February the first of 4 complete power losses occurred with my 2.0 Eco/AWD Maverick. They occur while at a stop waiting for a light change or at a stop sign. That is when the complete loss of power occurs and all the warning systems and dash signs start flashing. From that point, it will not restart requiring a tow truck to get it to the dealer. I need to add that this is with 39000 miles. Needless to say who pays the bill for this cluster from here on out? The dealer and Ford at this point can't figure out why this happened ... no reports of this happening and since the vehicle starts right up when it gets to the dealer the only code showing when analyzed is a loss of communication code. The battery is fine and they set the computer ... keep it a week and drive to see if it will do it again ... in the meantime, I am out of the truck I need and have no real answers. In March the same thing happened again twice. Reset the computer and keep your fingers crossed. I filed a case with Ford at the suggestion of the dealer ... that is a real disappointment and a complete waste of time. The service dept warned me they are hard to get a hold of even for them. How about only speaking to the Ford Customer Rep one time when I initially called while I was sitting on the side of the road waiting 2 hours for the wrecker?!! I can go on but won't. The picture of Mav was taken today at the Ford dealer while getting my stuff out of it. It is awaiting another recall fix for the body module causing the stop lights to Stop working. Then while my service writer was driving the Mav he was hearing a low growling noise in the rear end ... so they are looking at that next. Plus I have a bill for a new battery they say is now not producing enough amps to recalibrate the computer of the bullshit Ford didn't figure correctly when they built it. The cherry on the Sundae occurred this Wednesday when calling my Ford Customer Representative in Dearborn to get them to pay for the $270.00 battery. I waited on hold listening to some insane music repeated for over 20 minutes only to be told by a machine there were no representatives available to call back later ...click. The camel's back was broken ... I now have a 2023 Frontier PRO 4X loaded with 8,200 miles a $47,600 MSRP for $37,891. Nissan gave me $26,000 for the Mav that I paid $33,000 for 2 years ago

. And the dealer did the deal sight unseen and they own it and are picking it up from Ford when they are done doing their recalibrating and rear-end investigation.
.I am happy and sad ... I liked the Mav except for the bullshit for the past 3 months. The Nissan is a step up in the feel of more quality.

A car loses about 10% of its value, on average, as soon as it's driven off the lot. In three years, it has often lost 50%. Mavericks are holding values reasonably well and one just 2 years old with 41,000 plus miles is not exactly low mileage. So a depreciation of just 20% is just fine. I believe you are the one all wet.

Can't say that I would like to be the next guy who gets the Mav............. Not good! Who pays for potential repairs? The Nissan dealer? I guess the transfer in ownership has taken place???. I have a feeling that both the Nissan dealer and the Ford dealer will no longer hear the "low rumbling noise in the rear end"!!!!

Sorry to hear about your very frustrating time with your Mav. I really can't blame you for trading it in, I'd do the same if I was in your shoes. Knock on wood my Mav will fair better.

I know a lot of people are probably going to say well the Maverick is a cheaper vehicle but it is a shame that the interior does feel that much cheaper to some of the competition and more importantly that there seem to be some major quality issues still to be unresolved. I know all cars have problems but being used to Japanese, and one German, cars it seems a bit of a leap for me to get an American car but maybe I'll cross my fingers and take that leap

Nice! Frontiers are great and reliable! Also the least expensive midsize! You getting it for 37k is a great deal! Have fun with it!

Please do a more detailed comparison of the two. I'm considering moving to the frontier pro4x as well.
The biggest knock I hear about the Frontier is heavy as a Greyhound bus steering and it's relatively slow -

You certainly put up with a lot of B.S. Not what one expects when buying a new vehicle. I don't blame you in the least for jumping ship. An unreliable vehicle does not instill confidence. Since it is not branded as a "lemon", I feel for the next unsuspecting owner.

I'm not making excuses for FoMoCo but being an early adopter has it's risks. Maybe that's why FoMoCo initially offered Mav's at such a low price.

Ford is not new at this game and it is disappointing to read about the reliability issues so many are having. Ford CEO Farley acknowledged the cost of repairs under warranty was affecting profitability a couple of annual reports ago. He should have been more worried about customer satisfaction as people like you won't be a Ford customer anytime soon.

Here's to a better experience in your Nissan.

I wonder how much a dealer would give me for my 2023 Lariat fully loaded AWD Eco with 1,100 miles? Just curious 🤔.

the correct thing to do - once you have dealer and mfg issues-send it down the road- it will never feel right - I am experiencing deep sleep, believe it to be the battery, dealer says it tests just fine, 23 hybrid, still starts. time will tell

At first, when shopping fir small truck, I wanted a Frontier. Wife n I sat in one, felt “cramped“. Next was Honda. Expensive, even with the sales event going on. Interior also felt cramped. Then look a Maverick. A black Tremor, 4x4. So much more room. But dealer had few on lot, but they all sold. And says prob 10-11 months wait for an order. Humm….we went online hunting for one, I preferred a XLT. Found one 26 miles away, you now see it.

If this truck gives me ANY trouble and dealer not care, I wi”l part with it, go shopping again. Might consider an equal Santa Fe this time.
