Everyone is having trouble moving EV's right now. Demand fell off a cliff. It would be nice to see the tech advance to the point where cost and convenience are the same as for ICE vehicles but it just isn't there yet. Even Hertz is getting out of the EV rental game citing higher maintenance costs.

Not at all surprising. I could care less, last thing I'd ever want is an EV in any shape form or faction. Maybe by the 30's they'll have an infrastructure in place all over the country and battery tech will settle down and be decent. Then I might consider looking at one. Just my opinion.

Look - I loved my Model 3. It was wonderful, and I never had any issue charging it or finding a charger BUT that only applies to Tesla and I live in the 14th largest city (and 32ndish largest MSA) so it can very easily get more congested than what I faced.

Why did I get rid of my Tesla? Because even though I bought it when prices were at their near bottom for the M3LR - it was still one of the most expensive vehicles I've ever purchased compounded with any repair being major, costly, and time consuming (vehicle on the sidelines).

TL;DR - EVs are way overpriced and the masses do not want expensive vehicles that are expensive to repair and leave them stranded when they can't miss work to pay for their expensive vehicles and expensive repairs.

Make EVs cheaper.

Totally understandable given current trends of most automakers scaling back their EV production.

Totally from a business perspective this is a smart move given recent market trends and uncertainty of the economy.

This will come after the all new Maverick for the
2028 model year.
good business move - it already gets 45mpg, nobody needs a Mav EV.
Or better.

They are losing A LOT of money on every EV sold so that stands to reason you would not develop more.

This is also the reason Ford split into two pieces, Ford Blue is hybrid, gas, diesel and Ford E is battery electric. Other companies that did not do this can/will suffer much more significant financial harm when/if EVs continue to lose money.

Investors saw the rise in Tesla stock and essentially demanded that Ford get in the EV game, that hybrids were not enough. This happened to pretty much every auto maker. Volvo was crazy and/or smart enough to split Polestar even more than Ford split Ford E - they have their own branding.

Everyone is now taking a bath as they figure out you can't just duplicate what Tesla achieved the prior 15 years. And while the USA has driving dynamics very different from Europe and Asia, it's not just the USA. EV demand is tanking globally for a myriad of reasons.

Wait .... What? Are you sure you were ever part of the EV cult?

Lol, backhanded jokes aside. Nice post, highlighting that there are use cases for EV but also use cases where it is wildly unaffordable. Being objective while also being an owner of one.
