I had been keeping my garage door opener where it seems most of you keep yours, the little square hole near the cup holder. But, at night, it was hard to find and with no light at that time, it was hard to use. So, I moved mine up to the 2.5"X4" hole to the right of the GPS screen. I used one of my wife's unused pot holders, and just clipped the opener on it and stuffed it into the hole. It is a perfect location, out of the way, and easy to find and reach. The problem is, it's temporary. I need something more permanent. Something that fits the decor a little better. Maybe a 3d printer can print a soft plastic hinged device that not only will fit, but looks good. Maybe utilize the space behind the opener for a coin holder or plackers or something small. I'll be the first customer for a permanent solution. I would like to send a pic of what mine looks like, but I am not good at posting a pic except on certain chat groups.

I’ve converted my opener to a smart opener so the door just goes up as I get close to the house. I keep my opener in that cubby near the cup holders as back up. I have used the cubby by the screen as well and that worked fine.

That's where I kept mine in my old truck. The spring did a bit of damage to the visor. I did put a pad between the spring and visor at a later time, but the damage had already been done by then. Thanks for the post.

How do you convert an opener to a smart opener? Mine is about 10-15 years old and probably incapable of learning any thing new. Thanks for the comment.

I put mine in the easiest place to click it - on the sun visor. Most of them have a clip for putting it there

Yep, that location made a hell of a lot of sense to me too. :ROFLMAO: (y)

So you can buy a smart garage door opener but my opener is working fine so I went with this https://gotailwind.com/

I use a iPhone so I had to buy the separate transmitter puck that you keep in your vehicle Android does not need it. I also needed a separate hub so I already have Apple TV so that is used as a hub. Apple HomePod smart speakers also work as a hub.

It was an easy install. Now when I drive up the door raises as I approach the garage. If you drive away far enough it will auto close however that is only meant as a back up to closing yourself. To close I just tell Siri to close the door and it closes. One nice feature about this is you are notified when your door has been opened no matter where you are. You can also open it for another person remotely if need be.

There is also a night mode that you can use to automatically shut the garage door at a certain time in case you forget to shut it. Great feature for those of us that have CRS 😜

Keep mine here also but just got a KIA self dimming rear view mirror that has a compass and three universal door openers built in that I will be replacing the manual Maverick rear view mirror with.

I clip it onto the visor.

Our opener doesn’t fit well on the visors (too thick for the metal clip), so the opener is hung from the edge of the headliner at the sunroof opening.

Bought a Gentex rear view mirror off of eBay with Home Link (garage door buttons), auto dimming, and compass. Now no need for seperate garage door opener as it is built in to my rear view mirror. As a safety feature, I wired it into key-on power so the key has to be on before the garage door opener will work. Wiring was easy... Tapped in to overhead console lights as others have done in this forum.
