Absolutely true statement. In the spring I think I'll try for 850 or above but use a calculation to empty.

I assume by your odometer that your running the stock OEM tires. Which ones? Tires can make more difference than many people think.

Stock base XLT model, no tow hitch yes hard tri-fold cover.

It's a flat state with lots of roads I can pick my own speed on and not see another living soul (or a stoplight) for hours on end.

As far as temperature and running the heat because it's cold out makes a big difference.
One pic from yesterday was a cold start call for heat and drive , , gas engine started immediately. About 38°
Other pic with higher MPG about 48°no heat off but vehicle was pre warmed up from short drive.
If above 60°, I could get above 55 MPG every time. Same destination.

New personal best for a tank. Normal driving to/from work, no hypermiling or other nonsense. Just no HVAC and nearly 100% city traffic. Normal mode.

14.9 gallons to first click at the pump. Went to 0 at 833.6 on my way to get gas.

So I hit over 800 miles on one tank for the 1st time, and probably the last time unless I have a backup fuel tank with me.

I hit the "0 Mi to E" at 745 miles. From this point I set my Trip 2 to record the mileage after the gauge said I hit 0.

I usually fill up when I hit or are close to the system's estimate of zero miles left. In those cases my fill up would be anywhere between 13.7-14.1 gallons. After seeing a post of someone filling up to 16 gal I thought I would push my luck. I did have a 1 gal back up gas container after I hit zero, but will not plan to do this often. Unless you usually have a rack with backup fuel container just fill up. Not worth pushing it especially since you dont know what driving style you will use for those las 2-2.5 gallons. I made it to 67 miles past 0 so I assumed that I was at bout 15 gal used. I did my usual three clicks at the pump and I assumed wrong.

I used 14.8 gal witch came out to 54.8 MPG on this tank (best ever was 55.7 mpg). I did take the freeways more than I thought I would and I also did a long drive from San Jose to Manteca during rush hour with an accident, about 60 miles one-way 120 roundtrip. On the way back I was not in traffic, so if someone in the central valley has a Maverick and they drive both ways on HY 680 and HY 580 what kind of MPGs and MPT are you getting?

If the tank does actually hold 16.5 gal as on post suggested, the it could be possible to hit 900 miles on one tank, but I wont be trying that anytime soon. I might but not unless the conditions are right and I have time to get out on the side of the road with a filled backup tank.

13.8 gallons is what the MTE is based on in the hybrid and 16.5 gallons is what the MTE is based on in the EcoBoost.

It is what you can reliably count on.

Both trucks have over 2 gallons, I think 2.5 gallons of fuel in the tank up and beyond those published values.

You don't have to mentally keep a reserve, it's built into both the tank size and the MTE calculation. You will not run out of fuel if you drive to MTE 0.

(Imagine the lawsuits and customer back-lash if it were off by one and you ran out at MTE 1. It's not going to happen.)

Official tank capacity in the EPA database is 14.5 gallons. You can certainly squeeze a little more than that in it, but you are risking damaging the evap. canister with liquid fuel.

Just fyi guys and gals, it is never recommended to fill the tank up beyond the first click from the pump handle. The vehicle is likely to develop evap. system faults quicker than designed.

Your original statement reads factual, but it isn't. Particularly when you use words like "never."

You're assuming people are overfilling the fuel system, when they are not. Even if they were going "beyond the first click," how would the system develop faults "quicker than designed?" Do you have intimate knowledge of Ford's evap system design or are you just providing anecdotal evidence?

Genuinely curious.
