All the oil isn't on the bottom. There's a check valve to keep the oil in the lines. Still better to let it run for a bit to normalize.
How does one let the hybrid engine "run for a bit" to normalize considering it often doesn't start up at all until the truck is already in motion.

This isn't something to worry about.

I don’t know what this conversation is about, but as I’m passing by I just want to say you can actually rev the engine (low rpm, maybe 1-2k max) when the hybrid is in Park, by pushing the pedal all the way down.

I don't know. I figure this is something that's been addressed. I don't think I'll ever know everything about this system, especially the controls and operations.

Amazing the technology changes over the last 3 decades. Some of us remember the startup wisdom of earlier days. 20w30. Start, idle for several minutes while the oil warms and circulates. And then drive.

In my first hand experience with numerous Prius’s they have all burned oil earlier than I think they should. Yota has always said they were within spec. I have continued to buy them and drive the crap out of them. I still own two but a hybrid Maverick will take the place of one and an old Ranger at some point. Battery life has been a bigger issue for me. Take from this what you will.
Don't get the battery life comment at all. Have a Ford Maverick hybrid now after three Ford hybrid Cmax and still own one 2016 Cmax plug in with 100k miles which is beyond perfect. None of the Cmax ever went shorter than 7 years or 100k miles b4 l needed to change a regular battery in the cars. Something else was at work there if you say you experienced any form of battery life issues.

If you drive them long enough they will. Both cases. It’s just how machinery and batteries work. I’m not ragging on Toyota or Ford but the chances of these systems being trouble free for the next 15 years and 300k miles is almost naught. I’ve read a lot of threads with unrealistic real world expectations. I’m still buying one. 😁
What other vehicles will be ā€œtrouble free for the next 15 years and 300k milesā€ !

I feel like revving an engine while it's in park would cause so premature wear and tear on various components.

Absolutely no reason to do that, but one.

Some states, some emissions testing procedures require a test at idle, and one at higher RPM. Something about it needs two data points to draw a line. Fewer and fewer areas use this method as time goes on.

California required different RPM tests prior to requiring Dyno tests. Now, as long as your car was built after 2001 (or maybe 2004) they just hook it to the computer and the computer tells the smog station how it is running.
First time they did that to my car was in Sacramento, a few smog shops were doing a pilot test program. The smog tech hooked up my car, popped the hood and pulled it back around. I asked how badly I failed, and he said I passed. I asked how I passed if he didn’t even put it on the dyno and he explained the program to me.

That's the thing - hindsight is 20/20
Ask the question 15 years and 300k miles from now, and we'll have definitive answers. Anything now is just speculation. Akin to picking a "winning" stock.
Past performance is not indicative of future results.

Yeah, but it speeds up the process and makes it less expensive to consumers, so I am good with it.

I have a hybrid Ford Fusion and a plug-in hybrid Ford Fusion and they both have a display that shows the transfer of power when the engine comes on. It typically doesn't flip from 100% electric to 100% ICE.. there's a warm handoff in the transfer of power and it's very smooth. If the weather is cold out, my plug-in hybrid will warm the engine up for a bit before it's even needed.

My hybrid Maverick is just one state away on a train šŸ™šŸŽ…šŸŽ
Does the Hybrid Ford Fusion have a Tach meter?

Pretty much, I'm convinced there isn't much is the way of a winning stock these days, especially with the recession we're in. But I see where you're coming from.

Drove a 2010 Mercury Mariner Hybrid for 14 yrs. Finally the Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery was getting weaker, though it still worked just fine. The ICE (same engine as in the Maverick) gave zero problems in the 14 yrs and 107K miles. That’s not 300K, but I have no complaints. Hated to see it go, but the economics weee skewed in favor of trading it in for the Maverick.
