I am also in socal and was getting a pretty awful warranty offer as well. Politely declined and contacted Granger. If you have access to out of state address Granger may be able to help out. I recommend you contact them.
The upshot us Californians have is that here we get a sizeable extension on the battery and hybrid components warranty. Fords normal warranty on the battery and hybrid system for example just meets federal minimums at 8 yrs/100k miles. In California though, Ford is required to extend the coverage of the battery, battery control module, and hybrid control unit out to 10 years/150k miles. Pretty massive improvement IMO.

Outside of that, California screws us on registration because they still consider ANY "truck" a "commercial vehicle", LMAO. So there's definitely some ups and downs.

I had a friend who moved to California years ago and was bragging about his $5000 sign on bonus. I told him he’d be sorry. A month later he e-mailed and told me I was right he was sharing an apartment with 6 other people and his share of rent was over $1000
Seems like everyone wants to live here.

Quite similar to how people will wait months to years or overpay for a Maverick.

Supply and demand.

You couldn’t pay me to live in California. I love Arkansas , just wish I was in the western part of the state.

I thought all Ford dealers had access to the Ford ESP plan(s). Sounds like your dealer is trying to sell you a third party provider that probably offers a higher commission.

Bad deal, go to floodfordesp.com it’s way cheaper than that. Like under $1500 and you can add tires etc for a bit more.
Tell them you can get elsewhere for a lot less (and you can) Google it and see what you can get. California passed a law that you cant get from out of state

I was in the power sports business for quite a few years and sold hundreds of extended warranties. Dealer cost on the factory warranty was exactly half of the retail warranty. I used to sell people warranties at cost. It didn't cost me anything and it made me stand out above my competitors and my customers were extremely happy to have the piece of mind provided by a warranty. I wish car dealers thought more a long those lines. To most of them, a customer is just someone to be taken advantage of in an attempt to get every last dime from their pockets 😬

I'm here in coastal North County, Sun Diego. The general wisdom from consumer and financial advisors is that maintenance contracts are a bad deal. You are at their mercy, read the small print. Re-read the post here a day or three ago about how the poster tried to get an oil change under his plan that provided for it at one year or 7500 miles and he was declined. How long are you going to keep it? Your vehicle has a 3 year warranty. That covers you for major things. Tires - who gets to choose the brand? If you don't care, fine but I want to be in charge of things like that. Travel alot? Read how problems are covered when you are out of town and not near a Ford dealer. If you have $3500, I would put it in an interest bearing account and draw it down as maintenance needs arise. These plans are designed and written so the house always wins.

Just got word that my Mav arrived at the dealer. Picking it up tomorrow. They are honoring the order price. They have also offered a 7 year / 100K miles “platinum” Ford service contract for an additional $3,495. I have asked for more info but all she could tell me was that included everything except windshield, tires, and brakes. I don’t have a gauge if this a good or bad deal. Help… I’d like to phone a MTC-friend. If it helps I’m in SoCal where everything is expensive (we call it the “sun tax”).
Its a money grab, don't fall for it , you don't need it.the maverick is a reliable vehicle!

That's $3500 you could use towards your next Maverick. Drive the one you're buying til the warranty runs out, then sell it and get most, if not all your money back. Then buy a new one. It makes sense financially.

Sounds over priced to me...and know that these are often negotiable prices. Also, I just terminated a plan, which was $2800, on another brand vehicle, due to reading the contract closely, they have so many requirements and conditions I think it is easy for them to deny payment. You must follow their conditions to the letter., and supply documentation that your vehicle was maintained by you EXACTLY as the owner's manual requires.

And what some salesperson said to you means nothing.

I had an extended warranty on my Cmax hybrid. When the transmission went bad (was a Ford known problem) was declined because of ENGINE oil drops on underside of engine. So much for warranty as any excuse to deny coverage with no appeal. FORD coverage is no different per service reps.

My family has a vacation house in Vegas. I could possibly use that address. If anything, I used Nevada for Flood / Granger quotes that I will be taking me into the dreaded finance office.
Use the Vegas address, problem solved.

1500 was cost at dealer in San Diego,ca on my tremor. They offered me that at 3200 to start and worked their way down to 1500 , but since I’m cutting the truck up a little in a few months I turned it down.
I’m not a warranty type of guy.

Ford ESP is good at any Ford dealership coast to coast, does not matter who the selling ESP dealership is.
