You’re correct.
It was me.
These trucks act way differently in cold temps and trips under 10 miles.
Glad we could all learn together.
Edit: downhill and time off throttle are a big factor.
The short answer to your first question is yes.
It is most efficient to charge and move at the same time. It will charge while stationary only if it needs to generate heat for the cabin.
Sitting still is always 0 MPG.
When you hear higher rpm’s when you take off it just means that you emptied...
I started to get "remote services disabled" warnings first when I was parked overnight in more remote locations. Searching for a network connection drained the battery enough and the warning was issued at or about 40% SOC of the 12v battery.
I had been watching it fall/fail for months and...
Engine noise when accelerating is highly dependent on RPM which is highly dependent on battery state of charge. Sometimes normal acceleration will be at 1800 RPM, sometimes it will be at 2500 RPM. These naturally sound very different.
You are stating that your friends XLT is much quieter, but...

Because of the directional nature of the tread, you can only rotate front to back. They have to stay on the same side of the truck. With non-directional tires you would cross one set of tires with each rotation like the image below.
I did not. But your post reminds me that I need (want) to get a tread depth gauge. The directional nature of these tires does limit rotation options also. Treadwear warranty 55k IIRC
I agree, and they are very subjective.
The CC2’s are rated as a snow tire and the performance in snow is reflective of this. We had a mild winter, but it still involved driving through 4-6” of snow on two different occasions.
I thought this was a good comparison because I had a similar number...
If I remember correctly the stock tires are 24lbs per corner and these are 27lbs.
I am not relying on anything other than miles driven and gallons used to calculate MPG. You are allowed to be skeptical, I was as surprised as you are.
I replaced the factory Continentals at 9,258 miles at the end of August 2023 with the stock size 225/65R17 Michelin CrossClimate 2's. I waited until the local tire shop had a sale and had these mounted/balanced for under $800.
348 days, 10,004 miles and 4 seasons have passed since then. I spend...
I wish I knew:
1. How much the engine is off (especially if you spend any amount of time waiting in your car)
2. How powerful and smooth it is
3. How good the A/C is
4. That this was an option sooner
Almost 20,000 miles down and this has been the most functional and efficient vehicle I have...
This is actually a good description of the Atkinson Cycle engine, but there are two things that are blatantly incorrect.
1. Idle is 1250 RPM, not 2000.
2. The ignition timing is still well in advance of TDC - as much as 45-48°
This was Motorcraft Full Synthetic 0w-20. No additives.
Blackstone will also tell you that the flashpoint test itself is more of an indicator rather than something that can be valued in a vacuum.
I think it’s also worth noting that the specs listed are their minimum acceptable specs. There...
@Darnon is right.
24S33 is the update to the update for your truck because yours already had some updates completed. Mine did not.
I have only had one(edit: two) update(s) from a TSB since my truck was new and it was almost a year ago. TSB 23-2248 and 23E07.
Regardless - I don’t care to...
