Heading out on some fsr adventures this weekend I didn't feel comfortable having the stock donut spare so a cheap 245/65/17 tire on one of the stock Maverick wheels was the solution. It was tight but fit but it fit, good to have some peace of mind.

My 245/65R17 KO2 fit much better than this without even needing to air down. I tested it with my drive tire on my 17x7.5" AlphaEquipt Foxtrot even. Also, this is the second time I've seen this:

What year model is yours and what PSI is your spare at?

I'll have my full size spare soon but I'll likely be getting a 235/65R17 even after testing because that's the tire size I plan on running in winter and after the KO2's are done for. But my test of a 245/65R17 looked much better than this. Of course, I didn't take any pics while I was testing

Mine is 4k.
Then you are probably seated under the saw-tooth bracket like the photo above. When I measure the extra room "possible" from where my 215/60/17 "full size" spare sits, I get a maximum of extra room of 1.5" (and that's rubbing on the saw tooth and the trailer hitch). The diameter of my 235/65/17 tires is 1.95" more than the 215/60/17 ?

Definitely was not under. I could have done something wrong, but it fit up there the first time I tested. I'll test it one more time eventually before I get my spare.

Either way, you can remove the saw tooth with minimal effort... or maximum effort if you only have a hammer :ROFLMAO:

I think that "saw tooth" is there to help save your butt if you take a good blow to it.

Actually, you've got the over-size spare resting under the saw-tooth bracket, with the teeth against the sidewall.

It definitely wouldn't have fit between it, I was going to but got sidetracked putting a plate between the tire and spikes to protect the sidewall. I'm not worried about it at all

I didn’t know about these issues until after I did the swap today. I cut the teeth off and it’s still a very tight fit from teeth bracket to hitch.

no way it would safely fit with the teeth on. XL tire in the back, full-size hybrid spare in the front.
