Ecoboost vs hybrid

Looks like 2024 is switching to eco boost standard. Is that right? Should I pay more to do the hybrid? Can someone help me understand the benefits/difference between the two. Not well versed with engines.

Correct - Ecoboost is std for 24. Hybrid +1500
Ecoboost is like you standard engine with turbo to help produce more power.

Hybrid is a standard type engine mated to and electric motor. Electric motor is used to start you going and the normal engine kicks in as needed or if the electric motor battery needs charging.

Ecoboost if you do lots of highway driving or need 4k tow capability
Hybrid if you are fuel worried and do a lot of city/stop/go driving.

Best chance to get a Maverick in 24 will be an XLT Ecobooost .... Hybrids seem to have been constrained from jump.

Anything beyond that is just argument ... like reliability ... search forum and you will see.

Get what you want/need and enjoy either.

If its worth it depends on your needs. I keep vehicles for a long time and fuel efficiency was the primary motivator. There was like a $7000 difference in expected fuel costs over 200000 miles. If you don't plan to put on that many miles, then the value goes down.

Both are good vehicles. Your choice is depended on your wants and needs.

Hybrid was standard in 2022.
EcoBoost was the premium engine.

Both were equally priced in 2023.

In 2024 EcoBoost becomes standard.
Hybrid becomes the premium.

They had to turn the tables to lower demand for the Hybrid. They can't build them fast enough.

Now, way less incentive to get a hybrid. At least no financial incentive.

In 2021/2022, Eco Boost was an additional charge, and the Hybrid was standard. In 2022 they announced that there was no additional cost for the EB, and it would be the same price as the Hybrid. Now they have figured out people are willing to pay more for the Hybrid, and they need to decrease the demand for the Hybrid, so they raised the price on the Hybrid.

Depends on intended use.i tow a 2500 lb sxs,a 3000 lb boat and a 4000 lb camper.hybrid would do none of that so was out of the question.

My two cents. I look at a truck as a tool. Will it be able to do the things I need it to do. We live in northern WI so in the winter AWD/4WD is a must have also pulling our camper among other things. But those first two limited us to the Ecoboost. Our son lives in Milwaukee they camp, rock climb, endurance bicycle race and don't need to tow anything so they got the Hybrid. Just get the truck you need.

My Hybrid is delivering 45.6 mpg. Compared to my old Nissan Frontier that saves me $1400 annually in gas.

If mainly city driving and you don't plan to tow much, get the Hybrid. You'll have better resale value. And it should be very long-lasting (once Ford gets the initial quality-control bugs squashed).

If towing, off-roading and/or mainly highway driving, get the ecoboost.

It really differs person to person. Do you need /want the extra power, AWD or tow capacity? If so go for the EcoBoost. If you need/want more efficiency with the benefit of a truck bed then go for the Hybrid. My buddy has a Hybrid and he loves it.

Honestly if the AWD was offered with a Hybrid I would totally have jumped for it as I was looking for AWD when shopping for my next daily. That being said I am really happy with my EcoBoost.

I have now owned both. I had 2022 awd which was great. Power and decent milage @ up to 32 on hwy 24 average. Now have 2023 hybrid getting around 47 avg with up to 60 in town. Hybrid not as much power and comfort with only fwd.
