If anything, they'll price the tax credit with whatever increased margin they want for the PHEV model, so $7500 + a few extra grand. Then suddenly the Maverick PHEV is a $40k+ vehicle.
My Maverick that's scheduled to be built next week is a $40k vehicle (Lariat luxe, FX4, 4k, cp360, moon roof, bells, whistles, etc.). If I could tack PHEV onto it I absolutely would!

I agree. Why load the grid any more than it is now.
Because any time there's not a shortage there is a surplus, which currently is 99% of the time.

PHEV aren't as efficient as we would think they "should" be.

I read an article breaking down the 3 different Toyota Rav4 vehicles- the regular, Hybrid, PHEV. Money-wise the PHEV was the worst of all of them, (by a few Thousand $$ over 5 years) when considering purchase price and gas money spent. PLUS the PHEV usually have to compromise storage space somewhere for that extra battery.

They said the hybrid was the best.
Aren't there extra financial credits for plug in hybrids? Around here Maverick type hybrids don't qualify for anything but plug in hybrids qualify for as much as a full electric

Cordless EV charging is now available overseas, coming to U.S. soon.

Charge your EV automatically in your parking stall. Just like a wireless phone charger souped up for your car.

No fuss. No forgetting to recharge.

I own a Volt. PHEV vehicles soar like birds. It has been a dream car that I would gladly do again.
You’re one of the lucky ones and / or you’re in an appropriate (flat) environment. You must not live where the elevation fluctuates much and you get stuck in situations where the car refuses to go past 45mph because it can’t recharge via gas fast enough, putting you at risk of death as you’re on a highway rated for 75mph and people can’t see you’re 45mph slow ass past hill crests, almost slamming into you as they go 30mph (or let’s face it, 40 or more) faster than you.

That’s not even going into your typical “Chevy quality “ non phev specific issues like displays (Speedo or center cluster depending on the day) going black (won’t turn back on if you restart the car, would have to go to the shop every time it did this) leaving you guessing on speed or range, or major issues like the entire front axle needing replaced at 35k miles…where my service tech seemed to be pissed I just made warranty and told the tech in the next room “I thought this issue usually popped up a few thousand miles later so we’re not stuck footing the bill”

Just the tip of the iceberg. Enjoy your 45k car turned 11k in trade in two years. It dropped like a lead brick in value for a reason. Again, never again. If you’re happy god bless you. Worst thing our family ever bought.

I read this as:

Mike Levin said: “There is current need for an AWD PHEV. The 2wd Maverick Hybrid is incredibly efficient and affordable. The EPA estimates that Maverick Hybrid’s total annual fuel cost is just $1,500. Coming MY25!”
I doubt it - not many people are opting out because it is NOT awd - some are for sure but most are fine with it - it already gets 40mpg as a hybrid a very economical vehicle - it's a basic truck it doesn't warrant or need an EV option and/or AWD.

yeah that's fine but that is not what this truck was designed to be- it was designed to be basic good looking economical transportation - once you almost double the price - many of those attributes go away and it loses its primary focus

I'd take a PHEV Maverick. The premium would be fine now that you can get a $7,500 tax credit. I had a Chevy Volt. Great car I hardly ever had to turn on the gas engine as the 58 mile range was adequate to cover my daily commute. I would usually get home with 5-10 miles left. Charged it over night and good to go the next day. So much more convenient than going to the gas station every week I'd only fill up the tiny tank once every 4 months or so. I would go on EV mode for weeks at a time and the engine would have to turn itself on for maintenance cycles. I drive about 1,300 month and the electricity would cost about $150 for the month. If the car wasn't so low to the ground I'd still be driving it. With the price of gas in CA still close to $5 I'm sure the ROI would pencil out in a few years on a PHEV Maverick with a 35 mile range. I'd want one with AWD though and that may be what would tempt me to sell my Maverick.
Wouldn’t the tax credit be like half of that? I don’t think you get $7500 for PHEV.

Tax credit is now structured around the sourcing of the battery minerals, where the battery is manufactured, and where the vehicle is manufactured/assembled. PHEVs theoretically can qualify for the full $7500, but it is unlikely that most vehicles will qualify for the full $7500 in the immediate future due to the battery constraints. Most that currently qualify are only advertising $3750 in tax credits because of this.

Are there any PHEVs that get the full $7500?

I've seen articles about them putting it in certain roads as well. Charge while you drive. But those articles admit that would massively increase the cost of road maintenance. Asphalt is amazingly recyclable and cheap to use.

That's disappointing. Less reason for me to look at placing another order for when the 2024 banks open
